MSI Intel B85 LGA 1150 DDR3 USB 3.1 Micro ATX Motherboard (B85M-E45)

Fascinating option on the motherboard.

Pretty basic board. This is my first time dropping down into a smaller board so not sure what what's the norm. I don't understand why the Sate connectors are mounted facing up its annoying for cable management. They even put two of them side facing so why not put them all like that? The Bios is clean and easy to navigate. The start up screen looks frankly displeasing to be honest but its something you see for 1-3 seconds. I didn't have any issues with connectors or anything on the board not working. Its the quality I come to expect from MSI. Though I am always weary when computer manufactures put "military grade" on their descriptions. Since that equates to saying the cheapest crap for the highest price, if it actually was military grade.

Finally got around to this. Bah, busy time of year. Ok, the board arrived in it's own unsealed box, no shipping container whatsoever. Upon opening it I noticed that the cpu socket had been left uncovered and the cover was missing. There were also several bent pins. Upon removing the board from the box I noted several scrape marks and pressure marks where some considerable force had pressed the board into the box hard enough to damage the box surface. I also discovered the cpu cover loose under the motherboard. I had little hope at this point but decided to give it a try anyway. The cpu fan spins, but there is no post. The board is too far gone to show signs of life. It's dead Jim. :-(

Sometimes does not boot up normally in Win 10 64 bit..msg.."to boot into recovery for win to auto repair which also failed..

Voltage limit is 1.3v which for the 4790k is quite limiting, I had at 1.36v and 5ghz on a basic H-81m mobo for 3 years but this mobo is more expensive and more limited overrall, if it werent for the 2 dimm slot limit on my H-81m Id have gone back to it.

Pros: Very simple and easy to work with Micro AXT board. Overclocking is a breeze and Bios interface is easy to navigate around, however, I would not recommend using the MSI OC genie as it sets the CPU core voltage a little too high. Cons: The first board I got was defective. Lucky, MSI's RMA was hassle free as they replaced the board within a week. Other than that, no cons what so ever.

Good product & nice experience with Amazon.

Had ordered this for building out a new computer. The first unit that arrived had an issue - after putting in RAM, CPU, HDD etc and then plugging in the power, nothing seemed to come up in the display (display would not turn on).. tried HDMI, VGA, cable change, changing RAM slots and even the CPU etc with no luck. Then took the components (CPU, RAM, HDD) and tried in a friend's computer and it worked ok. So, subsequently requested for a replacement. Ordering, delivery and the subsequent replacement process with Amazon was easy and painless. Got the replacement a few days later and this worked like a charm. Reducing rating by one due to the first MB being DOA. Faced no issues otherwise - MB matches my requirement and was able to get the MB and components put in within a tower and then OS setup within an hour.
