They are plain white smooth styrofoam balls that can be decorated to your choosing. **Q: How many balls do you get in each size?** A: I'm not sure because have been using them to make decorations and Christmas ornaments. I can say one thing, I'll be ordering more, the quality is really good. But if you need some for a certain project, I am sorry on that I don't know. Which is fine by me, I prefer it - but just know what you're getting when you order these. Also, if you are looking for something that's very accurately 1 inch in diameter, these are not it - they're not even 15/16ths of an inch. They MIGHT be 25mm (1 inch = 25.4mm). But if you're buying foam balls, you probably don't care that they're a bit less than 1". They are fine for what I needed.
