Very sharp, great quality , great price

We just received ours. When I asked Rufus about certain materials, the reply was that it does not cut picture framing mat material, but indeed it does. I removed the guard and it did a clean cut, easy peasy. As a test, I doubled the mat material and it did cut, just not quite as clean of an edge. I also tried cardboard box and that was also a nice clean cut. The blade is so sharp and so steady, we might try slicing steak carpaccio on a nice, not quite frozen, piece of beef.

I organize a retreat where I need to make up pocket size agenda cards so that all of the cats are properly herded. After sitting at a table for hours cutting hundreds of these cards up with scissors, I decided a paper cutter was needed. Well... this thing is solid and it cuts super clean. It is overengineered for what I am doing. But... my gosh it is sharp. I have had it for over a year and cut hundreds or thousands of these agenda cards and the thing is as sharp as the day I bought it. It will draw blood if you just casually hit your hand on the blade... and it is that kind of cut that just keeps on bleeding forever! So... be careful around this thing! Guillotine is a good word for it.

Works well and is sharp but the hand guard was installed 1/16” off square and throws a visual curve ball at you. The backstop of the frame has a small gap near the blade and it is easy to unknowingly slip the corner of the paper a bit under it and get a cut that is ever so slightly out of square. I guess what do you expect for 50 bucks?

Don’t buy this cutter if you want to move fast and have high accuracy. I wanted a cutter I could sharpen so I went to a different price point. The instructions basically admit that the construction and the stickers (alignment guidelines) differ and you can’t use the physical edges of the cutting board to accurately cut the papers. You have to manually (and may I say, painstakingly, align those papers via the lines on the sticker paper mounted to the physical construction of said cutting board. Also, the lines are not the size of a pen point, they will also be more than 1mm so your paper will NEVER be precise no matter how particular you may be in measuring. That’s not worth me returning the device, but it will also try to spare you from purchasing this non-precise cutting board. It also only cuts about five 32 lb pieces of copy paper at a time. The little plastic “hold” piece doesn’t actually lay flat on your paper, so if you have more than one sheet, each paper will shift no matter how fast you try to cut. Also, the only measurements are at the top, and the length is where you stand, so you have to bend over, hover, and hope you got it right.

Finally a cutter that actually cuts, unlike the Carl rolling blade cutter it replaces. I'll probably end up giving that one away. My only quibble with the Westcott is that it's hard to tell exactly where the cut is going to be.

Nice heavy duty cutter. I just use this at home, so not comerically, and it exceeds any performance I may request from it. Cuts well, feels nice and solid.

I've used a few times and it cuts well. Used to cut 12mil magnetic sheet.

everything was great. but the blade is already blunt after daily use for 2 weeks. so i am unable to say that it is value for money. i suppose it can still be useful for light use. but for me, i have already wasted a lot of paper for my stacked cuts. i need to get another to replace this.
