Razer Blade 14 Inch Gaming Laptop

Let me begin by saying that I've owned Alienware laptops including the M14x, M15x, M17x and M18x among other laptops not so highly rated, and while thr M18x and the M14x hold a special place in my heart, the Razer Blade has completely redefined the Gaming Laptop or even the Laptop concept with this new laptop. For starters, the laptop is truly an engineering marvel to say the least, it's barely over half an inch thick and weighs 4 pounds, that alone is a worthy to mention, however what makes the Razer Blade something special is how much power it packs under the hood, it's simply an unbelievable achievement. By know, you know this thing has a Haswell Processor i7 4702HQ, and a full fledged Nvidia 765GTX 2 GB, we're talking the latest mobile technologies for both CPU and GPU! And sure enough, there are more powerful configurations out there, but none come anywhere near the size and weight of the Razer Blade. To have all this power means that one can not only do their every day work on it, but for the first time, be able to carry a Laptop under the arm that can play ANY game out there today at High/Ultra settings, that's gaming with no compromises on the go.... For the first time EVER, I find myself actually taking my laptop with me to even short trips. I would even take it a step further and say that so far, I have not even used my 4770k/780GTX desktop that much, the Blade has pretty much become my every day computer. Some of the negatives you'll hear are to be taking lightly... for instance the resolution is 1600x900, many claim they wish it had a 1080p display, however it's the actual resolution that enables the Blade to play all these games with maxed settings, when you put these specs on a 1080p display, you automatically lose between 20-30% performance in gaming. I will say that the 14" TN LED display could be better, no doubt, I'm not in love with the viewing angles or the color depth, but because of what the Blade does and for how long the battery lasts (6+ hours browsing/office and 2-3 hours gaming)it's not too hard to forgive the screen quality, in all fairness as bad as it is, it works just fine. The build quality is also the best I've seen in any laptop, it goes above Alienware and even Apple, presenting a top notch looking device with the best Keyboard/Trackpad on the market. There are two minor details that I found.. 1) One of the Laptops had a clicking noise inside, as if a fan was hitting a piece of plastic, lasted for a few seconds but it was consistent. The Web camera is sub-par, in all fairness, the screen is good compared to the webcam..... Because of the clicking noise, I did call Amazon customer service and they were incredible, they shipped a new Razer overnight at their expense and arranged a pick-up for the replacement at my place... in short I had to do nothing at all to get the exchange in my hands, just a simple call.

Mostly perfect, but the adapter makes some noises. Razer blade is the best computer i ever used. It has really strong power and beautiful look.

Edit: I did not note it crashed three times since I got in my original review. I figured it was just rolling out updates. It crashed again today twice and now is a loop. It says `We could not update your computer. Please do not turn off'. It sits there for a few minutes and then the screen goes off but the key board stays lit. I will move to 3 stars. I have requested to return for a refund. When it was working it was a great computer. I left my original review below. Seems Amazon may have a bad batch. I am new to PC gaming. I researched everything I could find over the last two months. It was sparked by the the ps4. Everything was locked and expensive. No more USB flash drive for media and no dlna. I looked at the Xbox One. Basically the same thing. I had been given a nvidia shield for my birthday and from there I started reviewing my options. I found the Blade due to the GPU requirements for game streaming with the shield. It was super slim and had a long battery life. Plus it weighs the same as a macbook pro. The reviews of the blade warned of the screen and heat. I have had it for just a week. I have played F1 2013, GTA IV, Tomb Raider and BioShock Infinite with no issues. The heat is noticeable but not worrisome. Keep in mind. I do not know what I do not know. Meaning I have never seen a 2000$ desktop blaze at ultra settings so I can't compare what is possible in PC gaming. I will say it plays games in 1080 as fast and detailed as my old ps4 if that means anything. I'm getting 5 to 6 hours of business use with it. Streaming spotify and multiple web sites up. A note on the screen. If your laptop screen is your primary screen then this blade is not for you in my opinion. It really is something from 2007. My company issued dell looks better. It is tolerable for short periods but begins to hurt my eyes after a couple of hours. 40 married with children Best time to game is at the hotel after work Canceled the MSI gs60 pro and new Blade for the 1500$ deal amazon ran last week.

Love the laptop. But the battery isn't last 8 hours as the products said. 2 hours max and the screen is bad as you can think.

IT STARTED BREAKING DOWN SINCE THE 3 DAY AND THE RAZER SUPPORT DIDNT HELP AT ALL!!!! THEY SAY THEY'LL REPAIR IT FOR FREE BUT I HAVE TO PAY DHL FOR SENDING IT AND RECIVING THE PACKAGE. I JUST HAVE 3 MONTH WITH IT. AND THE REPAIR CENTER IS JUST F.AWFULL!!!!!!!!!!

If you are buying a laptop for work or daily use and expect to do some light gaming once in a while then this will be a waste of money. If you buy this to have a light and slim laptop to play games and maybe do some other stuff then this is the one to get. Build quality is excellent, the only exception is chintzy touchpad buttons, but it is certainly not a deal breaker. I don't understand complaints about the display. Yes it is a TN display and it is 1600 x 900. Here's the thing - once again, if you buy this laptop to play games then this is the right screen. Yes, we are getting more and more 120 Hz IPS monitors and G-sync is on the way, so in 2 years we will have similar laptops with much better screens, but for now TN is the way to go. Same about resolution - this laptop has Geforce 765M and this is about as much resolution as it can handle in modern games. I'd rather have a lower res screen and play with better framerate at native resolution as opposed to playing at non-native resolution and slow frame rates or with greatly decreased visual quality. \ So far quite happy with it because I wanted to play Borderlands 2 and Metro-Last Light on the go and Razer Blade 14 certaily delivers.

Well, usually im not a laptop person. had an old alienware m11x, it was nice but too hot and the battery was about 45 mins when gaming. now coming from custom built desktops im used to extreme amounts of power. now i have a friend who paid $1500 for a mac book pro, its a very nice laptop i must say, but part for part this destroys that. the macs have an i5 with no gpu, mostly ment for processing heavy applications. on the other hand the blade has an i7 4702hq processor, 4 physical cores, 8 virtual cores. it also has a gtx 765m gpu, which surprisingly is able to handle far cry on ultra. that being said bought the razer sabretooth controller i believe, that turned this laptop into a mobile xbox one/ ps4, and their not even out yet. this laptop also has 8 gigs of ram and ids far superior to the 360 and ps3. it also comes with a ssd and after counting i figured a full boot up is about 7 seconds. Alot of people complain about the screen, but its not that bad, 1600x900 is pretty close to full hd, and the matte finish allows you to use it in direct sunlight at about 50% brightness. Now that i laid out all the goods,here comes the great. The size, and battery. First off, this laptop is actually a bit thinner that the macbook pro, while packing faster hardware and a better battery. Now the battery is the best i have had in any laptop ive owned. i got about 4-5 hours of GAMING on one charge. that being said about 8 hours or so of normal use if i putit into powersaving. Overall this is the best laptop i could find and would definately buy it again

MAJOR and REPEATED problem with is getting scaulding hot (can't touch certain spots on the keyboard) and also shutting down due to faulty NVIDIA 860M chip. Had it warrantied twice because it was failing (shutting down during gameplay) and it melted off the feet.
