It’s simply perfect
It feels a little silly to have a favorite kitchen spoon, but this is it. This is just great craftsmanship. Right size for both stirring and serving. Flat ended so you can scrape the bottom of the pot. Not plastic to possibly leach chemicals or microplastics, not wood to possibly harbor bacteria. Textured just a tiny bit somehow so it always comes clean. My husband and I received one for a wedding gift 15 years ago, and we’ve loved it so much we finally bought ourselves an additional one, as well as one for someone else’s wedding gift.

A Great Spoon!
I had a very old stainless steel 'big' spoon that I couldn't do without, but I always bemoaned the fact that the handle was quite uncomfortably large and hurt my hand when using it to stir large pots of beans, etc. I tried this Rada Cutlery Large Cooking Steel Serving Spoon Made in the USA, 11-1/2 Inches, Stainless handle and was very pleasantly surprised. The spoon is quite light, but very sturdy. The handle fits into my palm and is narrow enough not to hurt my palm when stirring large pots of heavy beans, etc. The flattened spoon tip is great for getting into the pot corners and scraping 'sticking' beans, rice, etc. from the bottom of the pan. The handle length allows me to easily stir an 8 quart pan, without getting too close to the beans, etc. The surface of the spoon and handle is slightly textured and not real shiny. But, this works well! It keeps the spoon handle from getting so slippery when stirring a steaming, simmering or boiling pot of beans, etc. The color is not exactly what I would expect a stainless steel spoon to be. It is slightly 'off' silver, but it works so well that I really don't mind. It has been totally dishwasher safe with no discoloration to its surface. It is just a Great Spoon!

Good Find!
I was in the market for a dedicated stainless steel roux spoon and started surfing. I REALLY liked the one manufactured by McWare but had a gut feeling that it was made in China--I just couldn't see myself spending for a roux spoon that wasn't made here. Fortunately, searching on Amazon brought me to this Rada spoon--made HERE--and I jumped, and would have even if it hadn't been so reasonably priced. Mind you, I prefer the angled head and greater surface area of the dedicated roux spoons; I'd have liked a somewhat longer handle as well. But in its favor, Rada's Cooks Spoon is (like me!) ambidextrous which means that I can switch hands with impunity; roux is both time-consuming and somewhat tiring because it has to be stirred constantly and carefully. And really, it's a beautiful piece of cutlery--it has a satin finish that's comfortable to the touch and while I understand how some might find its edges uncomfortable, my own grip when I stir tends to be with my fingertips so it's not a factor for me. And although a wider flat edge would be nice, this is certainly adequate and is appropriate for smaller pans, too. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase and I'm gratified to have found something that hit all of my hot buttons: USA-made, nice quality, good value. I hope Rada Cutlery stays in business forever. :)

Excellent for stirring 4qt pot!
I intended to use this item to cook jambalaya I’m a huge black iron Dutch oven but the handle was too short. Nobody’s fault but my own. I am keeping it because I Love the flat end for scraping the bottom of pots. The spoon is sturdy and easy to handle while stirring the pot. Great price. Now I want one with a longer handle!

Not a replacement for a normal ladle/large spoon
I have not found these as helpful as I thought. They are not deep enough and the flat end is not as useful or effective as I thought it would be. Overall this is a well made unit and looks nice! I think it is more of a specialty option and less a critical kitchen utensil.

My Favorite Kitchen Tool
I absolutely love this spoon. I originally purchased it seven years ago (!) for making a roux for gumbo and it has become my favorite kitchen tool. I use it almost every day. It has held up beautifully after all this time. I am only writing this review now because I was searching up something in my orders and it popped up. It was a great buy and I would highly recommend it!

I’ve been looking for a cooking utensil with both a flat edge and still spoon-like. I have them in the nylon and silicon versions. It was great to finally find one in all stainless steel! I can finally put this in the dishwasher too, unlike other makes that are of mixed materials. I just removed one star because of the slight roughness to the finish. I would have preferred it to be smooth. I would still strongly recommend it!
