Exceeded my expectations for home fitness equipment!
I've had unspectacular experiences with home fitness equipment in the past -- you get what you pay for -- so I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Stamina Deluxe Conversion II Recumbent/Rower. It is a very well constructed machine, and the ergonomics and overall experience are excellent. Though it's not an inconsequential financial investment, I feel that it is a good value for the money, and it compares favorably to more expensive professional gym equipment. Having two machines in one -- a recumbent bike and a rower -- is a big reason why this machine is such a good value. Both of these functions are executed very well. The motions are smooth for each exercise, and the range of resistance options is perfect, from very easy to challenging (8 levels in all). The digital display is basic but useful, showing you elapsed time, distance, calories, and heart rate. The display is large and easy to read. The unit also allows you to perform basic resistance exercises for arms and legs, such as biceps curls and leg extensions. While these exercises may not be challenging for some even at maximum resistance, this may be a value-added option for many users, especially those just getting started in fitness. Assembly should be relatively easy for those who have assembled fitness equipment or furniture in the past. I'd say it took about 90 minutes between unpacking, assembly, and clean up. None of the assembly steps were particularly complicated. All of the tools that you need are included, though you may find it easier to use your own tools. As with any assembly like this, be sure to keep all of your loose parts like nuts and bolts in one place. Note that some of the nuts and bolts are implied by the instruction manual to be contained in the loose parts kit, but they are actually already fastened onto certain parts of the machine. The only problem that I had was that the first unit that was sent to me was damaged in shipping. It was a bit annoying to have to repack it and stay home from work again to receive a replacement unit. But on the bright side, I didn't have to deal with lugging it back to a store and driving home a new unit. The unit could have perhaps been packed with more protective styrofoam, but maybe it was an issue with the way that it was handled in shipping. There was also a loose nut or bolt floating around the box in both of the units that I received, so look out for that, as you'll likely need it. The initial hiccup aside, my wife and I are very happy with the unit, and we strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile, effective home fitness option. Feel free to reply with any questions, and I'll do my best to answer.

Fantastic Piece of Equipment
This is a great piece of equipment. If you are wondering if quality is compromised as a result of the 2-for-1 deal, you'll be very happy to know that it isn't. This is a smooth and quiet piece of equipment. I am very impressed with it. It is of very nice quality. It took me about an hour to put together because I was being very attentive to the directions and taking my time. At first sight, the instructions are slightly confusing but it only takes a few minutes of looking over everything to understand them. The monitor is of nice quality and has several different modes: time, speed, calorie, pulse, RPM and distance. It's actually built into the bike/rower with this model as opposed to being on top like a very similar model that currently goes for $100 less. To me, it looks better built in as it is with this model. Now that I've said that, what I specifically like about this bike/rower is that is really more like a 3-in-1 machine. You not only get the bike/rower combination but they built it for strength training as well. I was pleasantly surprised by this as I didn't know that was included. (I had searched through countless exercise bikes and forgot the exact details of this one except for the essentials.) But when you receive it, the manual includes diagrams of strength training exercises you can do with the machine and how you can do them using it. You can do the following strength training exercises with the machine: back and abdominal, bicep curls (works the arms), upright row (works the arms), buttocks, leg stretch, and leg extension. And as I said, they include diagrams/pictures of these in the instruction manual. This extra bonus, for someone like me goes a long way, seeing as I was trying to find some easy/clutter free ways to strength train besides using resistance bands. So now I can use it for building muscle/strength to increase my metabolism as well. In the end, I'm very glad I parted with the cash in order to get it. This bike/rower/strength trainer is everything I need. I'm a mildly lazy exerciser. I currently have Xavix and like using it with the JMat as well as the boxing and tennis games to walk/run indoors (in place) among other exercises, but sometimes I want to sit down and work out. Doing that everyday just got boring. I wanted to mix it up a bit so I figured a bike/rower would help a lot. Especially since I could even alternate between biking and rowing to keep those two interesting (5 min. biking, 5 min. rowing and so on). And adding my walking/running, boxing and tennis to it gives me a lot more to do and have fun in the process again. I used to hate getting up in the morning to exercise but this bike/rower/strength trainer made it exciting again. Now I look forward to biking, rowing and strength training and more. I got a mini home gym going. I highly recommend this product for anyone who's lazy like me and wants something easy/fun to do to keep in shape.

Stamina 15-9003 Delux Conversion II
I received the Stamina rower/bike a few months ago. I wanted to use it for a while before I wrote a review, so I could comment on durability. Overall, I am very pleased. It is constructed well and it's very smooth. It is an excellent value, considering you get an exercise rower and a recumbent exercise bike in one. My rower/bike arrived in perfect condition. There was absolutely no damage from shipping. It was fairly simple to assemble, and using my own tools made it even easier. It comes with a set of rudimentary tools that will do the job, but it just takes longer. *A note on assembly: Some of the bolts and screws are pre-installed on the unit and are not included in the bag. During assembly, if you think you are missing a bolt, look on the unit, it's probably already in place. I read some reviews stating the resistance was too light. Well, it might be a mechanical issue or something else with individual units , but for moderate exercise, there is plenty of resistance. On the rower, I can get a good workout starting at level 4 and ending at level 6 or 7. On the bike, I start at level 3 and work my way up to level 5 or 6. I'm sure over the next few months I'll be using level 8 at some point, but I haven't needed to 'max' it out yet. The monitor is nice and I like the fact that it is built-in and doesn't sit on top like the less expensive model. It has time elapsed, distance, rpm, calories burned, and heart rate. (the heart rate feature only registers while holding the hand grips for the bike, so it won't register if you are rowing) The rower is very smooth and the motion feels natural. The bike is also quite smooth and the recumbent position is comfortable. I can really work up quite a sweat and get a great workout without leaving the house. Now for the reason I only gave four stars, which was also mentioned in other reviews: The foot rests for the rower. They are the only drawback for an otherwise superb machine. They simply don't hold your feet securely enough. My size 12 EEE's keep slipping out. No matter how tight I make the strap. So, what happens is it 1) affects concentration and 2)by holding my feet so they won't slip, after 30 mins. it's very painful. So, here's my remedy: I went to Walmart and bought a cheap pair of sneakers ($20) and an assorted package of bolts, nuts, and washers ($5) I removed the foot rests for the rower. I removed the insoles from the sneakers. I held the sneaker in the same position as it would be while rowing. I drilled 4 1/4"holes through the sneaker and through the foot rest. I then pushed the bolt through the sneaker and the foot rest, (placing a washer on the bolt first) then popped on the nut and tightened all four bolts. I used threadlock on the nuts so vibration/movement wouldn't loosen them. I slipped the insoles back in the sneakers and reinstalled the sneaker/footrest combo. It is now PERFECT. No worrying about my feet slipping and no more pain. For $25 it was a cheap and effective fix. I would recommend this machine highly, with the caveat that you may have to make some modifications to the foot rest. *I've added photos to the 'customer images' to show what the modification looks like.

I Really Love This Machine
Though I have only had this for a few days now, I'm rightly impressed with this machine. I love that I can exercise at home, and that this machine is so versatile, offering 8 different exercises, and that it doesn't take up much space at all. Another great thing about this machine is that it is all but silent. I don't need earbuds to listen to music, nor does the volume of the television need to be increased when working out. I think this is a great purchase for many reasons, not the least of which is that you can get a full body workout using just this machine. Onto the practical stuff now... The other reviews saying it takes about an hour to assemble the machine are accurate, but the work involved is pretty easy. The Owner's Manual is written well, the illustrations are clear and easy to follow, and all the tools needed to complete the assembly are included. Impressed? I certainly was, but, I do have one minor gripe about the machine. The seat is comfortable, the backrest is comfortable, however, the seat is kind of slippery. This is noticeable in particular when rowing. Sliding forward on the seat makes rowing inefficient and even causes interruptions when you have to adjust your position on the seat. I think a great addition to the Stamina would be a seat-belt. I tried using an old belt this morning, and it helped a lot, but it did not solve the problem of the slippery seat. Once I figure out how to reduce, if not eliminate, the slipperiness of the seat, the use of the improvised seat-belt will make rowing a much more efficient exercise. To sum up, this is a great machine offering a nice variety of exercises; it's portable, easy to assemble, it's really quiet, the mechanism is really smooth at any resistance setting, and it doesn't take up much space at all wherever you choose to put it. Enjoy.

Awesome multi use equipment you can use in the privacy of your own home.space saver.
Ok, Just received this last nigh so I'll give my initial thoughts. the shipper damaged the corner of the box. the product is well packaged in Styrofoam so there was no damage. don't open the hardware bag and start counting bolts. you won't find them all. the are pre-installed in some of the parts. the assembly instructions were very clear and step by step. parts are all there and easy to assemble with the tools provided. I did use my socket set for a few bolts so I cheated:) Now I believe I could have been a lower price but I'm a cheapskate. the construction is good and sturdy. I'm 205 and its fine. when you are using the bike feature it is extremely quiet, you will hear a little creaking depending on speed from the seat, not loud at all but it isn't a solid fixed seat it is a rowing machine too so it has movement. the rowing function is very smooth and feels great. unless you want to lay way back, "which I do not" the back rest is not an issue and is very comfortable. In the rowing motion you lean forward and go back to the back rest as you row and it feels very natural and very comfortable. I used it barefoot so I'm sure with shoes the foot pedals would be great. the bike peddles seem very good and feel great barefoot. the rowing foot pedals are not bad but you feel the heel cup on your heel and the strap is a little high for my size 9.5 foot. I'm sure with shoes it would be great and gives room for bigger feet without getting into the arch. now beyond the recumbent bike and rowing feature the other reason I chose this model you also have foot spots at the base to stand on to hold the unit down while you use the rowing strap/handle to do curls and other arm exercises so really it is much more than just a bike/rowing machine but a more complete workout machine. watch the on line videos. the girl demonstrating it is nice to look at but gives a good depiction of how to use the rowing strap for arm exercises.my wife briefly used it but likes it. we got it to get fit at home without the BS of the meat market gyms and waiting to use equipment someone else just sweated all over. we can get fit in our own home and improve our stamina and heart health in privacy.

Too many things went wrong
I was looking for a rower + cycling combo and bought this machine. The package arrived but UPS just left it outside the gate without even bothering to ring the bell. Got the box unpacked at night and the first thing noticed was a loose large screw in the main packaging (not inside the plastic bag holding all the screws and other tiny components). That was the first alarm. I assembled the smaller parts first and before connecting them to the main head unit (that house the wheels and magnetic resistance) I decided to check the main unit by pulling on the rower bar. It was obvious that there was hardly any resistance and any adjustment of resistance setting did not matter. I told my wife that we could have received a broken unit and she told me I should just return it. I thought to myself that this was a pretty heavy equipment and re-packing/sending this back would still be a hassle. Since I was pretty handy I decided to give a try opening up the main unit to find something simple that I could fix myself. As I was removing some screws from the plastic covers on the head unit, another large screw identical to the loose screw outside fell out from within the head unit. First I thought that must explain why the unit was broken. Once I removed both side of the plastic covers, I finally figured out what happened: 1. Some screw posts holding the two plastic covers were broken. The plastic cover material did not quite survive the shipping process. Either the packaging were poorly design, or the shipping people were too rough. I'd put the blame on both. 2. The magnetic resistance wheel had jumped off its mounting position. It was designed to be fastened by 2 nuts. Apparently they weren't tightened enough and the shock during shipping made the whole wheel jumped out. Obviously there was no more belt tension coupling the main rowing/cycling wheel to the magnetic resistance wheel. It took me more than half and hour to figure out how to have the magnetic resistance wheel and the belt properly re-assembled. At the end of it I got grease all over my fingers. This is a case of bad assembly and poor shipping and handling. 3. Since there were screws/nuts that weren't tightened, I went around trying to tighten every screw I found. Some were found to be loose and got tightened. Some screws on the main cycling wheel could not be tightened anymore because of damaged threads. There were a number of screws that were intact on the main wheel so I thought a couple bad ones probably won't matter. But this is a case of poor workmanship in manufacturing and assembly (ie, damaged screw threads). 4. I could not find anything that allowed me to put the 2 large loose screws to use. So this was a case of poor assembly process. Somebody dropped extra components into the unit (thankfully, this is not as critical as surgeons leaving surgical instruments inside a patient body after operation). Still this was poor workmanship in assembly process. Overall it took me about 3 hours to unpack, fixed and put the whole thing back together. The broken screw posts on one of the plastic covers meant the covers couldn't be held together seamlessly in a couple of places, but otherwise the remaining problem is somewhat cosmetic (my wife wasn't quite as forgiving). The machine has been working fine for a month now. Both rowing and cycling were reasonably smooth like mentioned in other reviews. I still give a one star because I am OK with the machine now. I just hope that I will not have to re-open this unit in a couple of years for servicing something else. The flaw in packaging will require beefier cushion design to correct. Shipping people are known to be rough. While the people doing assembly could have done a better job ensuring that no major parts jumped off their rigid mounting places, bad shipping/handling will always have the potential to damage the plastic covers. If you find anything wrong and you have any doubt about doing your own servicing, my advise is to return the unit as soon as you notice something bad during unpacking or assembly of the machine. Good luck!

Met my needs
Item arrived on time, and while packaging was a little beat up I would say it seemed to do its job of protecting the contents. Setup and assembly were fairly easy, just follow the directions word for word, and all needed tools are included. I have been using for about a month now and find, as an old guy with a heart condition resuming an exercise program after several months off, that having the lowest levels of resistance to begin with has been a plus. I am not a real big bruiser with a need to beat machines to pieces so levels of resistance provided have been adequate. I have not used the highest levels...yet. Started with just biking, added rowing after a couple of weeks, and both work fine, are easy to switch between. No issues with missing or broken parts but I will agree with another reviewer that having some parts pre-attached makes an initial inventory a little difficult. Havng pulse rate available is a real plus. Some cons: would like to have ability to show final stats after a ride. Right now only chance to see final totals is catch them before it resets if I use a preset goal value like a preset time. Average heart rate would be a plus also, when ride is completed. And footrests for rowing place axis at mid-foot whereas more at ball of foot seems like it would be more comfortable. These are pretty minor. Pros: easy to use and switch between cycle and row and exercises, quiet operation, large display, feels solid, that will offer many years of use with minimal care. After a month of daily use all glides still work well, resistance seems pretty even for both bike and rower, without "catches" or slips. Mixed feelings about the fabric covered seat and backrest: reasonably comfortable but I wonder about cleaning, if they will start to smell like absorbed sweat over time. Right now the comfort is well worth it. I have had no need to contact the manufacturer so cannot report any dealings there. Some of the additional possible exercises listed seem a little contrived, but still having them is nice but are not really "gym-quality." Overall I am quite pleased with my purchase...and with the progress I am making getting back into shape. Overall product construction and quality are actually much better than I might have anticipated for the price.

stable machine with zero bells & whistles
Another Update: The seat is the worst and makes it difficult to do anything more than 20 minutes. It is a super hard plastic seat. The width is okay but it is very short; only a few inches thus only half the bottom fits on it. You feel like you’re gonna fall off and so it is difficult to focus n the exercises. Additionally, the back rest and bottom are two separate parts with no adjustment and a big metal bar that hits ya right on the tail bone. That bar is the reason I can only tolerate 20 minutes. I’ve tried to find something to stop the pain of the seat but so far no luck. So for now I can do 20 minutes (max) then change to doing something else where I stand or seat elsewhere. For the super high price I really expected more. At the very least an accessory for the seat or a way to change it out. Still leaving it at 3 stars but it’s getting close to a two because of the lack of comfort and adjustment. Please do not misinterpret adjustment to mean moving forward and back, I’m talking about the angle of the back rest, the ability to raise/lower the back rest or move it further away (or closer) from the seat; these adjustments could help make it a bit more tolerable. Update: Downgrade to 3 stars. After using the machine for a few weeks I can tell you that the machine has a variety of exercises to make a nice circuit training, however, the tension is far too light for leg work even for me, thus I can imagine a male would not find it useful at all. I'd say to anyone considering this machine that it is a rowing machine first and the bike is like and afterthought. All the leg exercises really are just stretches afterthoughts too, as there isn't enough tension to really work the muscle. It isn't a purchase I'd recommend to anyone wanting a total body or even lower body workout nor someone that wants to bike. Pros: good rower Quite Fast shipping Easy to put together Lots of different exercises Big display Peddles for rower are nice with Velcro straps Works for shorter people Extremely stable and well built Cons: Poor tension capability for lower body workout Bad instructions Needs batteries (they hid that fact too...so not cool) Peddles for bike are cheap and poor quality with hard plastic snap on straps (straps are unusable with shoes) Peddles for bike are difficult to use Grips for pulse too far back Seat is extremely uncomfortable for biking Seat not adjustable No fan No water holder No tablet holder...no nothing; zero features Inaccurate read outs except the timer seems correct No walk though ability to sit down or exercise (you have to have the bar between your legs all the time) ----- so I JUST received the machine today thus I cannot speak to full usage yet but I have tried each feature. First it arrived early in good shape via UPS and no parts were missing. Putting it together: so read, read read!!! go through all the parts MOST do not have labels and many of the ones that should be in the bag are NOT they are already on the machine. You'll also need a mallet to get the caps on the bar after you put the foot plates on. It took 45 minutes to comprehend the poor parts descriptions and a lot of looking at the schematic of the parts. Once I had it all figured out it was about 20 minutes to put it together. I'd suggest doing the first 3 steps then jumping to the seat, then to the slide bar, LAST attache the slide bar to the base/fly and then the seat to the slide bar and last plug it in. ALSO not stated anywhere but you need two AA batteries for the electronics; I actually thought it was powered by kinetic energy but not 2 AA batteries. Also, poorly instructed is folding it; be careful not to pinch your hand on the lever underneath. if it doesn't pull down easy, turn it a quarter turn and try again. you cannot lock the lever in place unless the back leg is forward; if it is back it will not lock. It appears everything works. the peddles on the flywheel for biking are slick and difficult to use. so, I put some bath tub traction strips on them and that is working well so far. the pulse bars are too far back for me and I actually have to stop to reach back to get my palms on that so not good placement but maybe I'll get used to it. doing the butt kicks is difficult, as there isn't anything to hold on to in front of you; wish there was a bar. I'm only 64 inches tall and the fly wheel peddles are tough. Maybe I should say I'm just recovering from a first stage total knee and the bend that is required too much for the reach that works. As for the pull for biceps and arms, low tension for a woman, is going to be workout for many as there is resistance from that heavy flywheel (weighs about 40 pounds; 60 by the scale but I'd guess 20 is the casing). I'm sure macho guys/men will say they do that on 6-8 easily...not me it's hard to do 30 reps of each position! I was sweating it :) Rowing was the easiest and really flexed my knee well, but I do wish the pedals were up higher or they were height adjustable as it doesn't really feel like I'm in a boat rowing; it would be better if they were more even with the slide bar. last the seat really isn't comfortable, it is hard, short and doesn't fit my butt! Pros: easy to put together; lots of different exercises to keep variety; different muscle usage and nice circuit training in one machine; great rehab for knee; folds up easy; angle is good for seat back; transports easy on solid floor; quite; easy to change positions with the seat and different exercises; easy to read mileage, speed, pulse, time and calories in the daylight; great shipping and vendor response. Cons: poor parts marking; confusing instructions; bad and uncomfortable seat; wheels are too small to transport on carpet of any kind; release lever difficult to use (may be an injury/hazard waiting... be careful); not comfortable for short people; women may find any arm exercises difficult even with no no tension; not a zero clearance machine to get on and off; flywheel peddles and straps are difficult to impossible; pedals for rowing are too low; can't view readout in dark; requires batteries; no ability to shut off manually unless you pull the batteries (it will auto shutoff in 4 minutes but you cannot turn it off!), No place to put a tablet; no fan; no drink holder; cant set weight/height to calculate calories correctly so they are wrong and I don't know what the calculation is; no way to download workout to an app or track workouts/progress other than manually.
