Excellent Backup Drive
These are small, fast and easy to use. Wish the cable it came with was a little longer. Very happy with the 4 I now have.

Drive with this one
We've used these for work for a few years and they've always performed well. I've bought them from other vendors but when this became available at a competitive price I bought a couple. I recommend these without hesitation and they are used in a critical part of our business.

Working as expected
Usually I buy WD portable hard drives because they have been reliable thus far. I went with unknown to me brand because it cost less than the comparable WD and didn't have the bad reviews that some of the other brands had. Since I am cheap by nature I took a chance and luckily have not been disappointed yet. I use this hard drive primarily to store recorded movies and shows I watch on tv. I can't speak to the USB 3.0 because neither my laptop or my regular computer have it. So the speed data transfers is what you would expect for USB 2.0 which it is compatible and no problems noted with that. The product was on backorder when I bought it so it took longer than I liked to get my item. But that is kinda whining because I knew it was on back order when I made the purchase and as I said it was cheaper than the other hard drives I looked at that were 1TB. It did arrive in new condition. The one legitimate complaint I do have is the cord that comes with the drive is less than a foot long. That's not a problem when I'm on my laptop but when I'm on other computer the cord is much too short. I have to stand a Kleenex box on its end to rest the hard drive on otherwise it would be dangling. That's not a very sanitary thing to do. I'm contemplating buying longer cord but I'm not sure if there would be power or data transfer issues with that. The cords that came with my WD drive was at least 2x the length of the Matsunichi so I'm guessing no, but I don't wanna waste my time and money ordering a cord that may not work. UPDATE 2/13/14: I am now using a 3 ft. cable no problem has been noted.

Cord or cordless?
It is a great product, only the cord easily comes out.

Failed after 8 months
It was really nice for a while, it's a super small lightweight hard drive, and it worked well, but after having it for about 8 months it just failed on me. My computer can almost never see it, and when it can most of the files are gone, so I lost a ton of important data. I'm going to try to file a warranty claim, but they aren't making it easy with a worthless website and a phone number with really limited hours.

quit working after 3 months
I have been using this drive for a few weeks and so far it is amazing. It is much quieter than my other drives and doesn't heat up nearly as much. I work a lot from home, so I have a tendency to keep these plugged in for a good bit of time. Other reviews did complain about the lack of instructions, but I don't understand why you would need them. I plugged it in and was ready to go. It transfers files quickly. I originally got this as a backup, but it is so much nicer than my other drives, I have been using it as my main drive. I will buy this again and will highly recommend it. * Updated review - Only worked for 3 months. Purchased in November 2013, died Jan 2014. Was a great drive when I got it, but 3 months is certainly not long enough. I will not purchase this drive again.

Cute and Easy...
I know we all buy our electronics purely based on their cuteness factor... But I actually really enjoy the color of this guy. I'm planning on buying the other three colors, as I'm a photographer and use a TON of storage space. The colors help me stay organized. SO- to the person that couldn't figure out how to use this... underneath the packing containing the HD itself, there were instructions. Plus, I don't really know who needs instructions for a HD, as you really do just plug this in and go. It shipped way faster than I expected (got it in two days, instead of two weeks) and I'm pretty content right now. Thanks!

It's a really cheap and good external hard drive but the cord is really short and sometimes a small movement will unplug it from the USB port. I watch movies from the hard drive so it's a little annoying when it stops in the middle of it. Other than that it works perfectly fine!

It's exactly what it says it is! The transfer rate is very fast, it's small and compact. The only thing I wish it came with is a case or something - but it's so cheap that I'm not complaining. I haven't had any issues with it and I've had it for a few months now. I would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for a cheap 1TB external hard drive. Worth the money. My roommate said getting one so cheap is not worth the risk, but it works great. No complaints at all.

I haven't had it for long but so far so great. It's nice and light and east to take anywhere. Self powered, transfers files very fast, disconnects cleanly every time. And looks great. I love it.

To say this is the worst external drive I've ever owned is being too kind. But that's what I get for trying to save money. It's a mistake I won't make again. Avoid at all costs.

About a week after I got this drive I formatted it to have multiple partitions (encrypted and decrypted storage and storage for both Windows and Linux). Though the drive seemed to work fine, as soon as I tried to do *anything* with any partition past the first one - even if it was just mounted but not seeing any activity - the drive clicked constantly. Fortunately I was able to return it with no trouble and replaced it with a slightly more expensive drive.
