## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is it windows 8 compatible?**
A: Yup, works fine with my laptop running Windows 8.1.

**Q: Does anyone know how i can get a replacement data cable for matsunichi dm256-bk-1tb external ? thank you in advance.**
A: Hey friend, for the external drive you can use one of these: UGREEN Micro USB 3.0 Cable, USB 3.0 A to Micro B Cord Nylon Braided External Hard Drive Cable Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S5, Note 3/Pro 12.2, Western Digital, Toshiba, My Passport, etc 1.5 FT https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B089F9317S/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_GVQD2BVCKFGG6DPXE311?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Have fun!

**Q: does this item comes with any warranty**
A: Yes. It comes with a limited warranty (limited to manufacturer defects) valid for 12 months from the date of sale to the original consumer. Must have proof of purchase in the form of a bill of sale or receipted invoice. Recovery of data is not covered, nor shipping charges.

**Q: I just got a brand new one of these for my Mac OSX Snow Leopard. How do I format it so I can use it?**
A: I don't have a Mac with me, so I'll just give you rough instructions. When you're on the desktop, at the top of your screen, one of the menu drop downs will take you to the disk utility. In there, you should see this disk listed somewhere in the left pane. Click the drive to highlight it, then on the right, you'll have an option to erase/format the disk. I believe you format it to extended journaled or something like that, don't pick case sensitive. After you do that, you should be able to use the drive with your Mac. I believe it's originally formatted to NTFS, which should be useable with OSX as well, but not as fully compatible, though it would also work with Windows. If you want good compatibility between the two operating systems, you can format it to FAT32, I believe those are better compatible. I haven't had much time with Macs, so not 100% sure on that, but you can give it a try. :)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Working as expected
*by J***. on January 29, 2014*

Usually I buy WD portable hard drives because they have been reliable thus far. I went with unknown to me brand because it cost less than the comparable WD and didn't have the bad reviews that some of the other brands had. Since I am cheap by nature I took a chance and luckily have not been disappointed yet. I use this hard drive primarily to store recorded movies and shows I watch on tv. I can't speak to the USB 3.0 because neither my laptop or my regular computer have it. So the speed data transfers is what you would expect for USB 2.0 which it is compatible and no problems noted with that. The product was on backorder when I bought it so it took longer than I liked to get my item. But that is kinda whining because I knew it was on back order when I made the purchase and as I said it was cheaper than the other hard drives I looked at that were 1TB. It did arrive in new condition. The one legitimate complaint I do have is the cord that comes with the drive is less than a foot long. That's not a problem when I'm on my laptop but when I'm on other computer the cord is much too short. I have to stand a Kleenex box on its end to rest the hard drive on otherwise it would be dangling. That's not a very sanitary thing to do. I'm contemplating buying longer cord but I'm not sure if there would be power or data transfer issues with that. The cords that came with my WD drive was at least 2x the length of the Matsunichi so I'm guessing no, but I don't wanna waste my time and money ordering a cord that may not work. UPDATE 2/13/14: I am now using a 3 ft. cable no problem has been noted.
