Q: what's the difference between this and the escape mark 3?

The EC is a full electric designed to play/sound more like a Les Paul type guitar. The have electronics with some basic effect. The Escape mark 3 is an acoustic/electric that is designed to play more like a Martin or Taylor acoustic. It has no effects but the output is much purer (in my opinion) than the EC series. Love the Escape Mark 3 - bought a second one recently..

Q: What hard case does this use?

I found one in my local music shop that was for a bass Uke or something similar

Q: Is it allowed as a carry on by airlines?

It probably won’t fit in the “box” airlines allow. Main thing deterring me from trying that is there isn’t a hard case. I’d try gate checking a hard case instrument. Doesn’t hold tune super well anyway.
