VOLT 300W Slim Line Low Voltage Transformer (12V/15V) with Timer/Photocell

Listen, I'm a professional master electrician in Texas and this is the only landscape lighting transformer I'll be using in the future. I used it to replace a transformer that I installed a year and a half ago. That one had a digital read out and good reviews on Amazon. It looked similar to something you'd find at Lowe's or home depot. Well, after a year and a half the digital display failed and the one year warranty was expired. There was nothing to do but buy a new transformer. After that experience the lifetime warranty and replaceable timer on this unit appealed to me. I had never heard of the brand, but the reviews were great and seemed real, so I went for it. I wasn't disappointed. This is the best transformer I've ever installed or even worked with in my 15 years as an electrician. The construction is excellent, the design is even better with a plug in timer unit and the photo cell tucked safely behind the sturdy door lens to keep it from the elements. I totally loved that detail! Here in Texas most photo cells last 3 years max, thanks to the sun roasting them all summer long. I don't see that being a problem with this unit. It gets light through the lens on the door, but it's completely out of the weather. Genius. Function was fine so far. My client was happy. And I'm not worried because I know I installed a quality piece of equipment with a lifetime warranty just in case. I'll only be using Volt transformer in the future.

I really like this brand. The packaging was great, transformer was well protected. The box was damaged on one side on delivery but, because of the great packaging inside, the unit was not affected. I love the stainless steal case and the easy of installing it. I am not a professional landscaper but, did my research and this product came up over and over. It is well worth the money as it will last for years to come. I replaced a 20-25 year old system that had a small plastic transformer. I did have to return this one because I had miscalculated the size I would need. I did order the correct size and it was very easy to swap out. This one comes with a timer that you plug into the inside of the transformer and everything closes up securely inside the weatherproof box. I will add pictures later to this review. Don’t hesitate to buy this unit.

This is an awesome transformer for your low-voltage needs. I researched and researched and landed on this 300w low profile unit. It not only looks great it is highly functional and sturdy and very well made. Have the 5 separate taps was key for me as I had a 3 run immediate need and a 4th that I am still noodleing on. Which leaves me with a spare yet-to be determined run. The 12v and 15v options for each run are also awesome. If you need the extra push of power on those extra long runs the 15w is there to save the day. I did have a few exchanges with their tech support around output as I needed mor info. They responded fast with plenty of info. The 300w total gives you plenty of power assuming you are using 3w & 5w LED lights. I know.... It is expensive. However, if you take into consideration the expandability and power and 5 tap run it is hands down worth it. I recommend this as a great transformer.

Perfect! I see different kind of lighting in my neighborhood, solar and other things and I have to say this is the only way to go. LED doesn’t take any electricity at all pennies on the dollar for the year running eight hours a day every day. The lights are bright and look good well 2700 for brightness yellow. I have people stop their car at night get out and look under to see what kind of light it is. It is very clean nice look and makes your house look great. Solar you’re gonna have some that fade away some that won’t come on and they won’t be bright at all little bit, but solar is truly not the way to go. I would put out the money for this again while I have I actually have two. First one didn’t have enough power, but this guy has plenty. No regrets. Ridiculous easy install wire plug-in wire plug-in. Flip switch on.

The green pilot light does not work on the transformer I received indicating there is power to the unit. I contacted customer service, and they told me it was working, even though they could not see my transformer. They said the light was just not very bright. I waited until after dark and turned off all they lights, and I still do not see the green light. How can someone tell me something is working without actually seeing it? Otherwise, the unit seems to be working well. It would be nice to be able to tell if the unit has power to it, though. It is on a GFI circuit that occasionally trips, and I will not know about it until the lights do not come on after dark.

Let me first begin by saying I have had the pleasure of installing many of these timers for outside lights etc. etc.. The VOLT products and I mean all the products are top quality I have never been so impressed and if you don’t believe me just look at the stainless steel in the pictures you can see the grass and bark nuggets reflection in the picture how’s that for starters? Installation was a snap it was very simple I felt like I had something that was made for me if I was going to design it. The engineers at VOLT really know what they’re doing right down to the timer hinges and function absolutely beautiful engineering. Additionally, I have used and installed VOLT premium lights for outside in my yard on the trees and walls and they are again top notch quality!!!!! I am very happy with this purchase. My Home Depot unit failed after a few years but it was always difficult to program. This could not be easier to program. It takes seconds. It took about two minutes to install. It is built like a tank and has a lifetime warranty.

Really good transformer but expensive
