It keeps the cabinet shut
I do not have toddlers. I have 2 cats that have learned that if they hook their claws into the edge of cabinet doors, they can get them open. I use magnetic clasps on all the doors that close flush with the cabinet, but I have a set of under the sink cabinet doors that do not. That's where I store chemicals, cleaners, and there's a good size hole to the crawlspace (I know, that needs to be fixed.. but one thing at a time). I've been keeping it zip tied for a year. I needed better accessibility than cutting off a zip tie, putting on a new one every time I needed something from under the sink. The handles are set fairly far apart.. about 7 inches. Regular toddler locks wouldn't fit. THESE WORK PERFECTLY. They're tight enough to keep the doors closed so the cats can't get through, and it's easy enough to unclip, get what I want, and clip back. Darn spectacular for what I wanted. I could see this having lots of uses. I only needed one set but it came in a pack of 4, so I've put the other 3 sets with my box of zip ties. I cannot stress enough, these were PERFECT for what I needed. That said, cats do not have opposable thumbs, however ingenious they are, so I can't say as to the ability to keep toddlers / small children out. Cats, dogs, possibly raccoons, yes.

Great Idea For A Childproof Lock
I actually had a problem with drawers that my granddaughter liked to open and slam. She would take out all of the silverware and line it up on the floor. I decided to try to find a cabinet lock that would reach between the drawer handles. This product worked very well. The straps are long enough to wrap around the handles and still thread through the slots. The clasp is fairly easy for an adult to squeeze together and release to open the cabinet or drawers, but stiff enough that a child could not work it. The locks are easy enough to install if you read the directions. Just be sure you have the straps facing in the right direction before you tighten and lock them permanently. I found it fairly easy to position it evenly and then pull the straps. They work just like wire ties, then you cut the excess off. It offers a neat appearance and does not damage the handles or cupboards. It is a great product and works really well. Comes with easy to follow directions and an illustration to follow.

Effective child locks, made in USA!
Pros -made in USA -lock stays on cabinet even when unlocked so cannot lose -does not scratch cabinet surfaces -can open with one hand Cons -installation is mostly straightforward but can be tricky. I over-tightened one, however I was able to use the thin point of a steak knife to release the ratchet/locking pin in the zip tie and loosen it. Google/YouTube for tutorials. -depending on how far apart your handles are, you may not be able to tighten the zip ties all the way or it will interfere with being able to lock and unlock the buckle to open the cabinet. If the cabinet handles are too close together, the buckle doesn't sit neatly in between the handles and there isn't enough room to unlock the buckle unless you don't tighten the zip ties all the way. Thus your cabinet may still open slightly even when the childlock is engaged (see photos). This could be an issue if you are locking up chemicals and the child is able to reach through the opening to get at them. -need two hands to buckle the lock -an older, smarter child who is proficient at unbuckling these types of buckles could open these locks or even cut them off with scissors or nail clippers. -cannot remove lock from cabinet once installed without cutting off. Overall I am happy with this purchase and would recommend this product. I would purchase again if I needed more locks. I would love to see an updated version of this lock for handles that are closer together that would prevent the cabinet doors from opening as much as it does with these locks.

Love them!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED These are the best safety latches. I got them to lock my double door fridge and kitchen cabinets as a safety precaution because I have my friend's little ones visiting sometimes. Love these! They come with easy- to- follow directions, just read it carefully. Do take your time when putting them on. Start with the zip ties a little looser and slowly tighten them to the point that the buckle works as you need it. If you overtighten them, they will be difficult to buckle together and will open easily. They are very easy to use, I can even open them with one hand and are totally baby-proof. The extra bonus is that they are not permanent or require drilling holes or putting any adhesive on your cabinets. They are just excellent! If you have double door cabinets with handles, don't waste your time looking around for something else.

Semi-permanent and tough to get off
These are effective but I have two complaints: My biggest complaint is that the cords are made of a hard but flexible plastic. The plastic, while effective, makes it impossible to get off the door handles, making these semi-permanent. I ruined a good pair of scissors and gave myself a bad blood blister cutting the ties to fit the cabinet, as the instructions called for. In other words, these are "not good for Grandma's house" as an option. I also have NO idea how to get these things off. I'm going to need to buy special sharp utility scissors that will cut these things off and hopefully I won't damage the cabinet finish or the handles in the process because A LOT of force is needed to break that plastic. I was applying as much force as I could and it was a very violent process. I really wish they were made of a more durable nylon cord like the other Kiscord locks. Instructions are clear but I still tied the cords too tightly to the cabinet doors. That is because I tried to make the locks look just like the photo - BAD IDEA. You do not want the buckles to face you directly - in my opinion, they are tied too tightly that way. You actually want the buckles to fall forward slightly and hang down facing towards the floor, allowing the doors to have a bit of "give" to them, especially if you put these on cabinets that you use frequently. Take the time to read the instructions and resist the urge to tie them too tightly! My recommendation is to put one on a cabinet that you use frequently. Then wait a few days, try it out, see how you like the fit and then attached the other ties. Other than those two complaints, these work a lot better than the cheap plastic slide locks found at the baby store - those ones ruined our cabinet finish because they scraped against the cabinet wood each time they were removed. Once these are on properly and fairly easy to use. I noticed some reviews said that the kids were able to open them - no idea how that was happening because it's still pretty tough to get them open (our seven year old has trouble with them).

Great product, but one caveat
This is a very effective cabinet fastener -I have no small children but I do have a young and curious cat who gets into everything including the cabinets where I keep my glassware, and tying them shut with plastic bags or cloth was very unsightly. I went looking for some thing that was easy to install and I found these, The instructions were easy and I installed them quickly. BUT - be careful when pulling the straps through to make the loops around the cabinet handles - if you go too far and make them too small, they will NOT back out again, you will need to discard it and start over. Make sure you are leaving enough space when you have handles that are close together, if you don't the fasteners will not line up properly and it will be hard to close them again once you open them. Otherwise, highly recommended, they are easy to open and close as needed. I bought them in the clear/white as I have blond wood cabinets.

Fancy Zip Ties that don't hold up
Since the initial review we've replaced all of these. After very light use our 1 yo could simply pull hard enough to open the cabinet. Their holding power simply didn't hold up after any real use. Initial review: It's not as clear from the photos but these are large zip ties with a clasp on the end. They're easy to install if you have good scissors or angle cutting pliers. You zip tie them onto the handles and clip the excess length off. They come with a cap to cover the cut plastic to avoid exposing sharp edges. What worked well was to install them still clasped, loop one side around one handle and leave it somewhat loose, loop the other side around the other handle loosely and then pull both right together to get an even fit. As zip ties are awesome so are these. Once installed they are on very tight and seem to clasp together strongly. They are also easy to open, pinch the clasp while pulling on one of the doors and you're in. So why four stars? When you go to close the door you just opened you end up having to open both doors a little bit in order to have enough clearance to re-clasp them. It takes a little coordination and thought to do. This is just a part of how this design works. Other designs for similar locks can more easily be secured with the doors both still closed.

Effective and unobtrusive!
We have a 9 month old who loves to get into and open everything. In our quest to baby-proof our lower cabinets I was looking for something a little less clunky and less noticeable than the typical giant child locking devices out there. We also just remodeled and didn't want to be drilling temporary locks into our new cabinets. We were just about to settle for using zip-ties when I stumbled across these....essentially the zip-tie idea but with a buckle you can undo and refasten instead of replacing every time lile we were going to have to do. They work great, are easy for us to get open, keeps our daughter out, and are far sleeker than the alternatives. Definitely happy and will be buying more!
