A good addition to the series so far...
This is the latest in the Cutter's Code series. I'm assuming more will come as the author thinks of new characters, though I wish she'd give Rafehis own story. Katie found her best friend's dead body in the apartment they shared. Her father is the suspect in her killing. To get away from the gruesome memories of finding her best friend, she moves to a small town -- where the dog Cutter and his owners also live and operate Foxworth Foundation. Gavin de Marco is a former powerful defense attorney who now works for Foxworth. Due to needing an attitude adjustment (according to Charley Foxworth), he's sent to Quinn and Hayley. When he arrives thinking there's a case he's supposed to help with, he finds out there isn't one -- until Cutter comes in with Katie's cell phone making her come to them. At that point, Quinn says "We have a case now." Gavin is an extremely smart man. Oh, he has his issues. The major one being he just doesn't trust anyone and ANY type of lie, outright or an omission, sets him off. He's also still very well known in the legal world. If he was involved in your case, you were guaranteed being found innocent. If he didn't take your case or pulled out, guilty was assured. Katie "hires" Foxworth to help prove her father's innocence. Gavin isn't particularly pleased with being assigned since Katie is making him feel things he isn't used to. Gavin grills Katie first then says he needs to speak with her father. Gavin, being the smart man he is, knows her father is hiding something. No matter what he does, the man won't slip up. Katie's insistence of her father's innocence is something else he needs to consider, but he also tells her Foxworth Foundation finds the truth...no matter what it is. Basically telling her, if they find out her father is in fact guilty, they will find that out. Doesn't take long for this small community to find out the handsome lawyer is in town and why. It also doesn't take long for things to start happening to Gavin pointing him in the direction of her father's guilt. Cutter sure has his job cut out for him protecting this man. When Gavin finally gets Katie's father to admit his secret -- sorry the secret was a BIG ick factor for me. Cutter, Gavin, Quinn, Hayley, and the foundation sniper Rafe do figure out the real killer (easy to figure out). But, Katie knowing Gavin thinks she lied puts their relationship in peril. Gavin has a solid reason for why he doesn't trust and why he's such a good lawyer. Can he get past that for a woman he's fallen for? Cutter makes sure of it. A cute story with a bit of action and adventure, though not as much as some of the others. I also have to find the story where Gavin was a minor character because I honestly can't remember him. A good addition to the series so far...

Loved it!
I loved this story! The Cutter books just keep getting better. Ms. Davis kept me guessing the whole time. A nice twist I didn't see coming. She packs a hell of a lot of heat into a kiss! I loved finding out Gavin's story. And Katie was the perfect match for him. As for Cutter, those two didn't stand a chance once Cutter made up his mind. Gavin's conversations with Cutter are hilarious. A Justine Davis book never disappoints. Love the Cutter's Code series. More!

Justice, Love and Cutter
I love this series, and this one may just be my favorite. Katie is wonderful. Her belief and defense of her father is heartwarming, and when she was โElsa from Frozenโ for the kidsโ Halloween party at the library it was so charming. Gavin is a really smart, really good lawyer who has stopped being a defense attorney and is working for the Foxworth Foundation. So, of course, Quinn Foxworth and his wife, Haley, are a big part of this story as well. Cutter is an amazing dog. He was Haleyโs dog, and when she married Quinn Cutter became their dog...and an integral part of Foxworth Foundation. The interactions between Cutter and Gavin in this book are too cool.

I have enjoyed another book in the Cutters Series, I can't wait for the next book to come out so I can read it to. I have enjoyed reading this series about a dog with unique ways. I can't wait for the story of Ralf. I would recommend it to anyone who has been reading this series from the beginning.
