Dexas Superboard Reversible Pastry Board, 14 x 17 Inches, Midnight Granite Color - Dishwasher Safe, Plastic, Ideal for Baking and Food Prep

Excellent cutting boards. I use these for projects, including marine use on my boats. I love how durable, and easy to work they are. These are 14" x 16.75"......not 17" as advertised. These are 3/8" thick, and very sturdy. They tap well, hold well, and are surprisingly uv resistant outdoors. After 5 yrs in direct sunlight, they will degrade, so you can scratch off the top layer with a finger nail. Then again, just a tiny amount. These are made in USA, and come unprotected. Meaning no wrapping, or box. For me these are a non issue. As for use as a cutting board, they are as soild as the next plastic board is.

I'm a software engineer by trade, and I play a lot of PC games (mostly first-person shooters), so I spend a lot of time pushing my computer's mouse around. I've spent (literally) hundreds of dollars trying to find the best/smoothest/lowest friction mouse pad available (some gaming mouse pads can cost $40-$50). I spotted this "cutting board" at Target while shopping and thought it might make a decent hard mouse pad (at a fraction of the price). I was right... the friction (using either Logitech MX Revolution or Razer Copperhead mouse) is as low as any mouse pad I've ever used, and the tracking is excellent (using the "Midnight Granite" color cutting board). This thing is HUGE for a mouse pad, which is good because it gives me extra movement (handy when sniping in TF2). The large size is also nice because if necessary it could easily be cut with a power or hand saw to whatever size/shape you need. If you like a smaller mouse pad, there's a smaller (and less expensive) version of this cutting board available. I've been using this for a couple weeks now, and there is absolutely no sign of wear on it. If it does ever get worn down (which I doubt it will), I'll just flip it over and use the other side (which has the same textured surface). The surface is textured just like some of the high-priced hard plastic gaming pads. As a bonus, the speckled black granite finish looks good, too! Update 2014-01-18: It's been well over 5 years since I started using this cutting board as a mouse pad... and I'm still happily using it. There are no signs of wear.

I have this one and the other Dexas smaller size with the 'hand hold' built in and is sized at 11" x 14". I use this size primarily in front of my Cuisinart Keurig single brewer coffee pot so that any spills stay contained for easy cleanup. The smaller size is an excellent cutting board, especially when you are using ceramic knifes as they do not dull the knifes and the knifes of course cut better and leave no marks on these boards. Of course the larger one is also used to carve roasts and whole chickens as well and this one is about two years old and they both look brand new, as I just purchased the smaller one last week. I have one very important suggestion to make both of these boards perfect. The first thing I did to both of these boards as soon as they were washed and dried was to add four 3M Bumpon Self Adhesive Bumpers size SJ5302 to each board, and they are sold here on Amazon. One in each corner will stop any sliding on most countertops and they are very small and clear so they are not noticeable. I just wished they made an even larger size because they are the best boards and best value that you can find!

Item is durable and easy to clean. I normally clean it by hand, but have run it though the dishwasher a few times without any issues. The board has warped over time despite being stored on a flat surface. The thickness of the board works well because it fits easily into my sink. The board has shown some cut marks over time, but they don’t impact its functionality. The only reason I rated it 4-stars vs. five is because the board has warped a little bit.

Dexas Superboard Pastry Board (No Handle). I bought this exact same one years ago at Target, but they no longer carry it. So, I was thrilled to find it here on Amazon. Unfortunately, I accidentally placed a hot frying pan on it, and it melted away, leaving me disappointed. I had had this board for over 5 years & it still looked brand new (excellent quality) as the same day I purchased it. As you can see from the picture, I keep it on my counter for daily use, rather than using it as a pastry board as stated in the title. I love this granite board so much that I just ordered 2 more, just in case they become unavailable in the future.

For me, the only pro was that these are inexpensive. I'm not sure why, but I didn't think these were plastic. As you would expect from a plastic cutting board, these slide all over the counter unless you place a damp rag under them. The top is also very slick, so many foods slide around while trying to cut them. These probably have better uses outside the kitchen, as numerous other reviewers have covered.

Usable size, not super heavy, does what it needs to do

Durable, sturdy and good looking. This fits the top of my stainless steel sink perfectly - works like a countertop extender and a 'lid' for the sink. Provides lots of extra prep space and also covers the pile of dirty dishes lurking underneath! Measure your sinks and buy with confidence!
