The book has many good recipes but most of them will probably not initially appeal to people used to heavy meals. Additionally, there are a couple of ingredients in some recipes that can be hard to find. The last issue is that in her efforts to make a vegan diet simple, Ms. Silverstone doesn't devote much time to talking about what nutrients vegans need to be especially careful to include. This is crucial given how much misinformation the public has about nutrition. Check out Becoming Vegan by a couple of certified nutritionists (Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina) for an in depth look at how to have an excellent vegan diet at all life stages or Plant Proof website for debunking the latest fads and misleading headlines. Mayim's Vegan Table is a great book for getting kids to eat healthy vegan meals. With all of that said, I love the kind diet recipes and I've tried some new foods.
