Nice and Bright
Very good lights for the price. Most people are going with LEDs which look nice but have a couple of disadvantages. Firstly, LED lighting doesn’t run as hot as incandescent so if you have snow or ice on your LEDs they probably wont melt it away or keep it off as well. Lastly, incandescent bulbs can easily be replaced when they burn out. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver and some spare bulbs. As long as they keep making H3 bulbs, you can run these lights for years. If you have a problem with LEDs you will need an electronics degree to find out what it is and how to fix it. I have four Hellas on my light bar. The center two are fog lights with yellow bulbs. The beam is nice and flat out to both sides. The outer two are driving lights that help with the high beams if needed. Each set is wired and controlled separately. The quality could be better as these are made in India but for the price they work fine and don’t collect moisture inside the lenses. Overall I am happy with the look and the function.

Six headlights (4fog. 2low bean) sharp cutoff nice wide and low beam pattern
I like these lights so much I just bought and installed a set on the grill guard of my truck. (Pic later) I was a bit concerned these might be too bright as they are mounted almost 18 inches higher than the ones on her CRV. So far I haven’t had and oncoming cars flashing hi beams at me so I’d say I’m good to go. I wired this set to turn on when I turn on the factory fogs. Believe me four fog lights and the low beams I really light up the road ! I’m very impressed ! Below is my original review: I mounted these on the front bumper of an '06 Honda CRV for my wife and they went on fairly easily once I removed the grille. More on the grill in another review. The lamps themselves have an ABS housing which is thick and sturdy, also rust proof which is good here in New England because the salt on the roads in winter rusts cars to death quickly. The wiring kit provided crimp on connections which I'm not fond of so I took the time to splice, solder and shrink tube everything. It added a lot of time but I don't screw around with "convenient" installation methods when it comes to my wife's car. The beam pattern, once aimed puts the light down where it's needed; low and wide. The lenses are a good quality glass. I would recommend these fog lights in a heartbeat for anyone !

Great but swap out the bulbs for 100w bulbs
The hella 500 fogs are awesome!!! I have 2 sets of 500ff w/ 100 watt bulbs and now the 500 fogs with 100w yellow star bulbs. For some reason hella stopped making or is shorting supplies of the hella "500ff fog" lamps so i decided to go with the standard 500 fog. The difference between the 500 fog and the 500ff fogs are that the 500 fog as you can see from the pictures the lens are shaped to reflect the light properly. On the 500ff fogs the back of the lens is what reflects the light and the lens is clear. Other reviews have mentioned about the quality of the lamps and yes they arnt made in Germany anymore..... So what? They work great and I cant really see how anything could be improved or where the loss of quality is. Dont be scared if anyone is thinking about using the 100w hella bulbs. I have 3 pairs with 100w lights and the provided wire harness is more than enough to carry the load and not give you any problem. I drive with my fogs on anytime my headlights are on and my other 2 pairs when Im off roading. I have not had an issue with the included wire harness have any signs of melting or shorting out (just make sure you ground everything properly). Others on the "interweb" have said that the 100w bulbs can melt the housing -_- i would imagine if you let your car or truck sit in one spot while you car idles through a whole tank of gas this might happen but i seriously doubt its possible. I will caution you that going any higher than 100w will probably cause both the above mentioned problems. 100w are just right.

True Fog beam pattern
I've installed 2 sets of these. One on my Jeep & 2nd set on my wife's Jeep. They have a glass lens, so they are a bit more fragile, but the beam pattern is a true fog pattern - low, wide, and great cut-off. They are also Halogen bulbs, but are simple to swap out for led bulbs of white or Amber (yellow) color.

Best Deal for Fog Lights
Just got a set to replace yet another pair of fog lights destroyed (I tend to go through them pretty badly! :D ). The new Hella 500s are not nearly as sturdy as the ones that company made for Jeep for the TJ/LJ. The mounting bracket looks like it came from Home Depot and I had to widen the hole in my bumper to get the bolt in. The housing itself is a lot "cheaper" looking than the old ones, I see where they are now made in India (previously it was Mexico, and Germany before that). That said, it takes a little effort but they do mount securely. Wiring them up was straightforward (I already had wires) and I love how much they light up the sides of the road without blinding oncoming traffic. I definitely need to upgrade to 100w H3 bulbs, I think I have some spares from broken fog lights I still have. The 55w bulb is OK but the 100w is much better from what I have read and experienced with other fog lights. They are a great supplement to your headlights and are well worth the money! Sure you can pay more, but these are probably the best value for money fog lights available at the moment!

Bright and Heavy duty
Great lights. Not quite as bright as I anticipated but I can tell a big difference with them on along with the original fog lights and headlights. They shoot out a wide thin beam, great for seeing deer on the sides of the road but wouldn’t suggest for driving with oncoming traffic, it could impede their vision since the beam is so wide. They do leak pretty bad, currently they have water in them after the bad storms we’ve had recently. Would recommend taking them apart and sealing them before mounting. Also don’t pay attention to the complicated wiring instructions keep it simple and use the minimum amount of wires. I just used the blue directly from the lights and grounded them to the bull bar.

Look great…work just OK
This is the 500 Fog light kit. I hate bashing things because I try to remember things are made by human beings. The lights look great. But… They don’t seem to point low, like a fog light on a bumper typically would. There’s no more adjustment to tilt them forward… they’re either vertically straight up or tilt back. I was hoping they would light it up the area directly below and in front of the bumper like a stock fog light. They do put a little bit of light there, but I wouldn’t expect much. When they are on, I can see that they put light higher than the cut off line of the typical headlight. It’s my personal experience that it doesn’t wash out the fog. Maybe I’m wrong about this, but I don’t think so. They are not very bright at all. I’m not sure if the ones I have have defective bulbs or this is how they all are, not sure. They are not as bright as a regular 55 W halogen headlight bulb. They are a super warm color as well. So would not match or look OK if you have white headlights. The included switch I think it’s supposed to be lighted, but it doesn’t work. I’m sure I have it wired correctly. It has three tabs. Two are to show power through the circuit from either your low beams or if you directly wire them to hot…. So the relay will activate the bulbs. The third is an additional ground that’s for the light in the switch. I ran my switch ground to a stock existing ground location, and the light doesn’t come on. Hella customer service seems sort of non existent or responsive. If I had to do it over, I think I’d go another route. I think at this point I’m going to try some different bulbs inside the light. But they do look cool and traditional! ✌️ ….A little update… I was able to point the light down/forward maybe another half an inch…which translates to a decent amount in the aim of a headlight. Not perfect but pretty close! The lenses have a fairly defined flat beam against my garage door. I’m going to swap out the bulbs for something a little bit brighter LED. Hella never responded about the faulty switch ✌️

Excellent halogen lights
I have had these lights now for a couple of years and they are great. The beam is wide and shallow like a fog beam should be. Be sure though, to aim these correctly as they can be blinding if aimed too high. I have them on my 4x4 which is lifted 6 inches and when I first put them on I aimed them too high. People kept flashing me with their high beams so I aimed them properly and now I don't get flashed. They light up the road really well. The beams illuminate the sides of the road too which I find really important driving on rural roads. They help me keep sight of deer, moose and other creatures at the side of the road. And, of course they work great in fog and snow as well. The plastic is really tough and I have had no problems with cracking. The lenses are glass. I have the yellow Hella Color Shieldz filters on. They fit perfectly and protect the lenses from stones. EDIT 03/09/2025 These lights do not stand up to a head on collision. Don't worry, I've already tried it for you.
