Brain Games - Collection #3: (Variety Puzzles): Expand Your Memory, Reasoning, Creative Thinking, and More! Review: Older adults need some brain stimulation. - I bought two of these, one for a friend for Christmas and one for myself. The beginning level I thought would be easier but I was stumped on some of them. Not sure I'm looking forward to the puzzles getting much harder, but we'll see. It's kind of fun to work a puzzle and use your noggin. I like that it is comb bound and a sturdy book. Got it for a great price. Review: Fun for even a grump like me :) - I had some health issues that lead to an early retirement and me being home sitting around a lot and I needed something to fill the time. This honestly was enjoyable. I was huffy about it but once I started working though it I had fun and got a couple more.

Not Just a Game
I've been extensively studying the brian for two years now, and I've found that this book, along with others in this series, supports what neuroanatomists are telling us. It aids to continues creating new pathways in your brain. I really enjoy how the "games" increase in difficulty, thus making them more challenging. It also offers a variety of activities that prevents boredom--and will also allow you to be selective. The end of the book--well,it contains all the answers!--that's a "safety-net" that I enjoyed about my BRAIN GAMES books.

Brain Games
We enjoy doing the puzzles as a family. Great choice of brain games. I also enjoy working individually and the spiral bound makes it easy.

Good start
I have only done about 20 puzzles so far, in order of the book. Some are a good challenge level, some are super easy. But there have been two "mistakes" or illogical things in just that short time. For example, one was a number puzzle that you needed to fill the numbers 1-9 in 9 boxes to get the columns to add to a certain number. It did not technically specify you only use the numbers once, but it's the only logical way to solve the problem as a "challenge" otherwise almost any combo could work. Anyway, I did it about 3 times and kept getting the same answer that was repeating the number 8. When I finally looked at the answer because I could not figure out what I was doing wrong, it too had 8 repeated. Another example is solving a mystery phrase about a pilot returning to the airport because the engines were making noise, logic would have you think they are going back to get a new "plane", but the solution says a new "pilot". I have another book by the same company that I have used in my classroom, and there was another example of a word problem that the conclusion of the sentence made no sense as well and that was the first puzzle in the book.

Good to Keep Your Brain Sharp
I have the first one and I love it. Decided to get this one too to stash away for later. Some of these puzzles can be challenging. Not gonna lie there. However, they're designed to make you reason things out & really use your noodle to solve each one. Once you get going, they start to sharpen different thinking strategies which can help prevent cognitive impairment & dementia. If you don't get a puzzle on the 1st try, move onto another & then go back. I write notes, numbers & possible solutions all over the margins like a workbook. The answers are in the back if you need a nudge.

A fun way to keep your brain healthy
I like the large amount of puzzles in this book. There are so many different things to do. They are fun and engaging. My family has a history of dementia and alzheimers, so I have a huge fear that I will develop those. As I have gotten older, I have been trying to make sure I'm preparing myself as much as possible to avoid that. These games are supposed to keep my brain working, but it honestly doesn't feel like work. They are just fun games to play. I just need to get in the habit of using it every night for a few minutes for the best results.
