7865S 4-Dial Sliding Combination Ratchet Lock with Key Override for Glass Display Cases, Chrome (7865S+Key)

I purchased these for the company that I work for to secure fairly high-priced merchandise. Before these I purchased some locks that broke almost immediately. These locks not only were a better brand and style. They are much easier to use, stronger but the employees love them. Would definitely refer them to other locations.

Seemed a little bit flimsy in comparison to other sliding locks that we have used but it functioned well enough. The only drawback is that it is not reversible. On our display, the front door opens to the right and not to the left. This means that the ratchet has to be mounted upside down Since it is designed for a door that opens to the left, the lock portion has to be used upside down as well. This makes it a little tricky when entering a combination since the dials are upside down and backwards. This is not an issue with a key type device since all you would have to do is insert the key upside down. It is true that there is a key option for this lock as well but if you're going to use the key what's the point in having a combination lock. Just be aware of this limitation and pay attention to how your display doors open.

I ordered this item to lock a park display case, but never even got it to that point. Something was wrong with the mechanism, it was impossible to get working. I opened it up, and found that the spring was poorly designed and not very robust. It's supposed to move in a certain way when the code is engaged, but would never do so unless I opened up the lock and manually pushed the spring into place. The lock would then release the toothed bar, and I could then operate the lock, but then as soon as it was locked again, it could not be unlocked. I made sure to double check the instructions and reset the code, but none of this made the lock function properly. I also messaged the seller to see if somehow I was doing something wrong, but received no response. Do not buy this lock, and top tip: I bought a different manufacturer's version of this same type of lock with an entirely different mechanism, and it also failed. I would be very careful buying any inexpensive combination display lock.

Lock is made of cheap plastic. It could easily be broken with a pair of pliers. Of course locks only keep honest people honest. And lets face it, the same pair of pliers could smash the glass and grab what is behind the glass. Biggest concern about the lock is that it did not come with instructions. I went to Combi-ratchet's website, and it looks like they have some steel body locks, but nothing for a sliding glass display case. At least it will keep my kids out of the cabinet.

Great cabinet lock. Like any of these locks, it only keeps the honest people honest, but it's a nice design. Being able to set a combination for the persons who maintain our display case while still having a master key override is perfect. My reason for docking a star is that I wish it had come with two keys instead of one.

It is just what I needed to lock up my liquor .
