Expectations & Purchase Context I purchased the Fireside Outdoor Pop-Up Portable Fire Pit Grill primarily for camping trips, especially in areas with restrictions requiring above-ground fire pits. I was looking for a portable and versatile solution that could serve both as a fire pit for relaxing and as a grill for outdoor cooking. Performance Evaluation This fire pit has easily become one of my favorite pieces of camping gear. It’s lightweight, sets up quickly, and packs down small enough to fit in the back of my vehicle with no hassle. I’ve used it for both casual fireside hangouts and for grilling meals at the campsite. The heat distribution is excellent, and the mesh base helps reduce the amount of ash and residue left behind, which is great for Leave No Trace camping. Pros - Extremely portable and easy to set up/take down - Complies with fire safety requirements on many private lands and cabin areas that mandate above-ground fire pits - Functions well for both fires and for grilling/cooking - Sturdy construction and materials—stood up to multiple trips - Mesh base keeps cleanup simple; limited ash left behind Cons - Legs are not adjustable. If you’re on uneven ground, you may have to use rocks or other items to keep the pit level Comparison to Product Description The product delivers on its advertised promises: portability, compliance with fire regulations, and dual use for warmth and cooking. Let me start by saying that I love charcoal grilling and that a lightweight firepit is not necessarily the type of product I'd use for outdoor cooking. But after seeing videos and reviews, and given that I was given the option of paying for this product over 6 months without any interest/APR, I thought I'd give it a try, and I am glad I did. The challenge of charcoal grilling anywhere it's not right in your backyard is transporting equipment to wherever the grilling happens. The Fireside Pop-Up Firepit is foldable and very light; the grates weigh more than the Firepit itself. Assembly is quick, as is disassembly. This product's size - 24" x 24 " - provides a surprisingly large grilling area. At least 20 burger patties could be grilled at once; if one were doing strictly hot dogs, at least 100 sausages would fit on the quad-fold grates. One drawback is that if you're roasting thicker/larger chunks of meat which need slower cooking over time, you have to limit the embers to half of the fire mesh. That said, if you know how to control the temperature of your grill, this won't be a problem. And, charcoal burns fine on the fire mesh as you light your coals to get embers going, but I rely as always on my charcoal chimney for a faster job. Having used it only for grilling, which requires more attention and work than simply burning fuel if this is used as a fire pit, I can confidently say it is a fine product for either function. You do not need to wait until the embers have completely cooled off before disassembly, but by all means carefully remove the hot embers and ashes with a shovel or another such tool from the fire mesh before disassembling. Be sure the mesh is indeed cool enough before folding for storage. Whether you use this for some burgers or steaks on the weekend just so you don't need to use your stove, or whether you take this to a camp site, this product combines practicality with ease of use and value. Barring any unforeseen problem, I expect this product to be handy for many years, even if/when I "graduate" to another type of grill. As a simple fire pit, this will serve me over many outdoor evening gatherings.

Packs small, is easy to setup, and seems like it will last a long time. Fires do seem to burn with less smoke and less tending with the airflow coming through the stainless steel mesh. Cooking on half of the quad fold grates while keeping a nice fire on the other side of the pit is a delightful way to make and enjoy a meal outdoors. While im really happy with the firepit and grill setup, I wish the firepit storage bag was more like the quad grill storage bag. The grill bag is heavier duty material and opens lengthwise, not just on the end. Heat shield attachment could also use some refinement, though the straps do seem to work okay for now.

This item is fire pit is awesome. Compact, portable and works great. We use it on RV trips and love it. I did have a problem where one of the welds came loose on a grill. I notified the manufacturer and they quickly sent out a replacement. Customer service is top rate, so is the fire pit.

Great product! It's light, easy assembly, wood burns well in it, well constructed.

The pit worked as advertised. It is extremely lightweight and easy to put together. I left the pit put together outside after using it. It rained that night and now the screen is clogged with ash. A washout with a high pressure water hose cleared this up. ONLY CON I noticed was the side pieces the grate lays on top of. These are not tightened down so moving the grate can cause the to fall which makes placing the grates on top extremely difficult once the charcoal has been lit. Buyer beware: if you have a bad back, this product is not for you. It only sits approx one foot above the ground. I sit in a chair to cook on it.

The combo fire pit + bbq grill design is ingenious & it's absolutely amazing. It's by far one of my favorite purchases of the year and although it's not a 'seen on TV' infomercial, the pit is everything I expected out of it, and more. I used to be an avid camper and hiker - before my kids - and this amazing product would've saved us tons of time and headaches. One trip included canoeing to a landlocked island where you eat or burn what you bring. This product would've come in handy =) I've used this a couple times. The grill gets hot fast thanks to excellent airflow. And the large 2' x 2' area allows for a nice fire, including at night & is ideal for roasting marshmallows.

Easy to use and can be used just about anywhere. No more worry about gross or wet fire pits/rings when you camp. I absolutely love it. Just shake it out, rinse it off, wipe down the sides, and roll it up - takes only a couple minutes to put away or set up. Simple-easy-peasy.
