You can't read writing with most thermal devices, with this one you can. The overlay of images makes this one of the highest quality devices around. Craftsmanship & Comfort: Right off the bat you can tell the difference in assembly quality. E5: Better pistol grip, hard carrying case. HTI: Feels more "toy like" has protective pouch with carrying strap. Ease of use: Both photo taking is "point & click," however the HTI-19 asks you every time if you want to save. E5 just saves. User Interface & buttons: HTI-19 menus are a little tricky but you can get used to it. The SELECT and ENTER are obscurely translated. What does select mean to you? "select between these things" or "select the option your cursor is on"? To view your photos you have to navigate through menus with no image preview. E5 Buttons are much simpler. However, the internal temperature emitted by the body make imposible to see the blood vessels. Wow!!! It's amazing to be able to see very clearly where homes are not insulated well and where the leaks are. You can even see the studs in the walls. Heated floors you can see if any of the pipes are leaking. On electric heated floors you can see if any of the pads are not heating. Definitely and amazing tool to have.
