Review: Rage2 Elite Flash Drive - Fast, reliable, 1 TB huge capacity - I've bought the Rage2 before in 128 GB to 512 GB sizes and always was pleased. It has one of the fasted writes on the market and so far none has died on me. So I trust this 1TB flash drive. I was able to copy about 45K files ranging in size from 1K to 2GB, over 350GB total, in less than two hours from 512GB Rage2 to 1TB Rage2 Elite! Some reviews comment the drive is too slow. I'm not an expert but I do know we can't expect SSD speeds from a flash drive. Apparently too, each file read/write access requires a certain overhead so copying a lot of small files will take more time that a few huge files. I reviewed the differences between my flash drives. Both used exFAT format but the 1TB had allocation unit sizes (minimum file size increment per file) twice as large as my 256GB drive, 256KB vs 128KB. So the same data on my smaller drive takes up more space on my doubled capacity drive. My speed copying large 2GB files was about 220MB/s. That's not as fast as a Samsung T7 USB 3.2 (300MB/s) but much faster than a Samsung EVO 256GB Micro SD card (70MB/s). This 1TB drive shines with storage of large files but if you're storing lots of small files then probably this is too large speedwise for you. Don't be fooled by unknown brands. Most advertised huge memories for ridiculously low prices are actually lower capacities falsely formatted. Also, many of the real brands don't advertise their write speeds because they're not as fast as this one.
Review: Worth the money - I've tried some budget 512 Gig thumb drives and they've been pretty worthless. This drive is fast and reliable. No, not as fast as the specs, but drives never are. This outperforms the others I've tried, though, and I'm very pleased with it. I've moved very large file directories with reasonable dispatch and no dropped files, as far as I can tell.

**Q: 1tb drive is only showing up as 922, this seems like excessive space that is un allocated. What is going on?**
A: your computer counts in binary so divide by 1,024 three times (once to convert bytes to kilobytes, again to convert kilobytes to megabytes, and a final time to convert megabytes to gigabytes) to see how much space this actually is.
1TB in binary would be 1TB/(1024*1024*1024) = 931GB

**Q: What is the mtbf? is it the same as your ssd 2,000,000 hours?**

A: Yes, as long as you purchased it in that county.

**Q: Does this work on the PS4?**
A: This didn’t work at all. Tried a replacement and it still didn’t work. Too slow.

I've tried some budget 512 Gig thumb drives and they've been pretty worthless. This drive is fast and reliable. No, not as fast as the specs, but drives never are. This outperforms the others I've tried, though, and I'm very pleased with it. I've moved very large file directories with reasonable dispatch and no dropped files, as far as I can tell.

My whole world is on thumb drives, and I’ve owned every major brand available. Needed a large capacity one to take files and photos from home to school, and share across many computers. Got this one at a pretty good price, and it came with a 3-year warranty, so I felt comfortable with the quality, and set my expectations high. First thing I noticed is how small it is closed. Really nice. Looks cool, for sure. Second thing was that it transfers files much, much faster than my older thumb drives. Finally, I appreciated just how much stuff this tiny gem holds. I have all my files and photos from the last thirty years—from school and home—and the drive says I have 200 gb free space left! Looks to be pretty durable (my old SanDisk titanium is still my favorite), and I can’t think of any negatives after two weeks, so there you are. **** UPDATE (July1, 2019) **** OK, after putting 300 GB of precious data on this drive, yesterday, I accidentally tossed it in the washer, in the pocket of my jeans. They were seriously stained, so I soaked them all day, and dried them on 'hot' for an hour. Out they came. There was my Patriot--last thing out of the dryer, and hotter than a sunburn. In short, it fired up and worked perfectly. I would not recommend doing this—and maybe I was very lucky—but thanks, Patriot. You make an extremely durable little thumb drive! Whew…!
