It is probably not a big deal if you intend to install it right away but otherwise it is gonna get dust/dirt on the sticky side. See photo how tape has pulled away from paper. Even though you have to install the grip tape on your own it’s manageable with only a box cutter for tools. After watching a single YouTube video you can do it. I’m an beginner/intermediate skater and this board has been #1 in my collection so far. Another great thing, I’m a plus size skater and with the help of my risers this board has carried my weight flawlessly for 9 months and counting. It’s a great choice. The only down side is that the grip is kinda wacky, it’s got a really high grit at first but dulled down so quickly. I’d buy a separate cheap griptape if you want tight grip.
