Are you talking about the dampers on a clothes washer? My guess is that it doesn't matter. I would need to see a picture. I used this grease to damp the needle on a mechanical speedometer to reduce vibration. It is frankly a lighter grease than I expected and I mixed it with some Dow Corning high vacuum grease so that it would be stiff enough
