Perfect fit, not too hard to install
The ignition lock cylinder on my 2003 Durango was binding, and this cylinder completely did the trick. I checked out several of the YouTube videos for Durango and Dakota models, then was easily able to remove the steering column covers, pop the old cylinder out, and then came the hard part: removing the tumblers, and reading their numbers. The tumblers were worn to the point that the numbers were hard to read, and several would not pop up or come out, I had to part demolish the cylinder to be able to force them out. If you have a chipped key, like me, you have to get that right, or you can't use your existing key(s), the keys that come with this lock aren't chipped - even if they were, you would need both ORIGINAL keys in a working cylinder to program another key. But I managed - removing and installing the cylinder took ten minutes each, coding the lock, carefully, maybe half an hour (you don't want bits to fall out and disappear on you..), and Bob's your uncle. All I needed was a long T-20 Torx driver to get the covers off. Happy, good product, affordable, and being able to use the originally programmed keys is great. The electronic security assembly that senses the key chip ("passlock") is a completely separate assembly, in the steering column.

Easy Install...great fix
I purchased this item last October to replace a worn ignition on a 2004 Dodge Dakota. The switch would not always turn to the "off" position before the key would release from the cylinder. This lead to the battery discharging, especially if the fan switch was in the "on" position. The new ignition solved this issue and worked ideally throughout the winter. The longest part of the installation was re-keying the tumbler to fit my existing keys. Otherwise the removal and installation of the ignition cylinder takes about 15-20 minutes. If you re-key the tumbler to match your existing keys, there are more than enough tumbler pins to complete the task. If you do not re-key, then two new keys come with the cylinder. Bear in mind that if you use the new keys, your ignition key and door lock key will be different. The instructions for re-keying were included and did not seem difficult to follow (Caveat: I have re-keyed locks in the past). There are Youtube videos illustrating DIY installations. I would definitely rate this as a "buy" item for those in need of an ignition replacement who are handy with tools and can follow the written directions.

Perfect replacement if you want to keep old keys
Took old cylinder out and apart cleaned tumblers and installed them into new lock cylinder and worked perfect with old key. This did not come with any tumblers and had to use old ones from lock. I like this way better then the "Auto program" newer style offered as I was afraid if key was slightly worn may make other keys hard to function. This is for non chip key which is black. If you do not mind separate key from for lock it is keyed with 2 new keys included. 20 minutes from removal to reinstall including keying lock cylinder

Easy to Install and Works Great
I installed this in less than an hour. I watch the installation video on the Dorman website before installation, as others have recommended. The tumblers are aluminum, rather than brass in the original lock cylinder. The hardest part to figure out was removing the tilt steering knob on my 2001 Dodge Dakota. After a little online assistance, I found you pull back to the rear of the vechicle. The knob just snaps on and off. Also, I removed Torx T15 screws in case you can't see in the screw holes. Of course this i for my vehicle, but I thought I would post this for those that have the Durango/Dakota lines.

High Quality Ignition Cylinder, Not Hard to Install
This s is a very good lock cylinder kit and a great replacement for the worn out cylinder in my 05 Dodge Ram. It came ready to install with a new key but like most people, I wanted to use my factory key which also works in the door locks. There are several Youtube videos (including one by Dorman) that show you how to take your old lock cylinder apart to remove and record the position and numbers for the old tumblers. It helps to make a drawing to keep track of the tumbler numbers and positions. Dorman provides a full set of new tumblers in the kit so you just change the tumblers in the new cylinder with the correct (numbered) tumblers that match your old cylinder and factory key. Once the tumblers were swapped out, the factory key fit perfectly. The whole project took me about 45 minutes and that was with me being extra careful to make sure I didn't make a mistake.

The reconfiguration of the new cylinder is very easy. it took me less then 15 minutes
I bought this item to rekey my Dodge Ram 1500 2006, on which I was able to remove the key in any position and even when driving. I have the sentry key feature and I was still able to use the new lock cylinder. The reconfiguration of the new cylinder is very easy. it took me less then 15 minutes. (it helps pushing the tumblers out with a paperclip (much easier than prying them with a small screw driver) I suggest to watch the Dorman instruction video on youtube before doing this job. Getting to the old cylinder in my car was a little more complicated because the sentry key reader is located around the cylinder which makes it difficult to get to the cylinder release button.. My original cylinder had a tumbler marked as C4 iso just 4 but I just changed it for a #4 that came with the new cylinder and everything worked perfectly. All in all about a 1 hour job.

Worked perfect
Install was easy and it worked perfect. all of a sudden my ignition key would not turn. I read where you can take a mallet and hit the key and it will turn. it did and I was able to get my truck home. Ordered and new key switch and that fixed it. Keep in mind that it will not open the drivers door. but just put the old key in a hidakey box and stick it somewhere on your truck

Just installed and start

Product was priced right and fit perfectly. I was hoping there was away to eliminate the requirement for a programmable key but understand that is not something the ignition lock cylinder can change.
