Good, inexpensive part!
I had a client's computer whose sound computer had no sound. The sound card was integrated on the system board and could only be replaced by replacing the whole board. This fits into a PCIE slot and it worked just fine. So I spent a few dollars and saved my customer a couple hundred.

Be sure you understand audio systems
The device did not work. I got no sound out of it. Although I am a federally licensed radio operator AA6TF I am not sure why the card did not work.

NO DRIVERS AND WINDOWS DOESN'T RECOGNIZE OR FIND DRIVERS
It came with a disk that I could not use as I don't have a cd driver and can't find drivers for it anywhere. Absolute waste of money. won't work with windows 10. save your money.

Limited compatibility with Windows 10 and/or windows11
One word: "Meh.." It's 'OK' I guess, and don't get me wrong, the sound is 'adequate' with the included driver set (distributed on a mini-CD) but unfortunately the sole reason I bought this was because the on-board sound connection (a Realtek onboard audio setup in this Dell Optiplex Small Form Factor PC, and a 9th gen Intel processor just so she can run Windows 11 64-bit). But of course, this PC model offers only a single stereo connection, which was disappointing to the owner because she wanted a front / rear speaker setup similar to what she had that had been accommodated in the old Win10 PC by the onboard Realtek sound system (but which had started 'crackling' like a wood fire not long ago). So, I grabbed a dependable old Sound Blaster Audigy FX 5.1 from my 'junk box'., and all was well... For a while, anyway. But problems soon revealed that the Audigy seems to have not 'survived' this transplant, and front audio channel vs rear channel performance was 'spotty' and flakey, often 'cutting out' one or both channels simultaneously. And close examination revealed that what I presume was the "DAC" was about as hot as a soldering iron, so - yeah, obviously figured it was time to just supplant the beast in the short run with this inexpensive CMI8738. But the driver set is apparently NOT Microsoft 'signed' and with Windows 11 OS, that's gonna make things a bit difficult, and while the description says 'Windows 10 compatible', it isn't really or there would be 'work-arounds' available... SO... once again, back to the drawing board and 'moving on' with a NEW Audigy FX2 when it arrives in a couple of days. Thus the "Meh.." Lesson learned, eh...?
