CRC Knock’er Loose: The Superhero of Starter Bolts!
So, picture this: My husband, the fearless shade tree mechanic, facing off against the stubborn starter bolts of his beloved Ford F150 pickup. These bolts, determined to defy his every effort, seemed to be mocking him with their unyielding grip. Enter stage left: CRC Knock’er Loose Penetrating Solvent 03020 – the trusty sidekick in his battle against rust and resistance! Let me tell you, folks, this stuff is like a superhero in a can. With a mere squirt, it swoops in to save the day, penetrating even the tightest of spaces with its industrial-grade might. As my husband affectionately calls it, this "reddish elixir of liberation" works miracles, loosening those stubborn bolts with a satisfying pop that signals victory! Now, I'm no stranger to the drama that unfolds in the garage when my husband is knee-deep in his DIY escapades. But let me tell you, CRC Knock’er Loose turned what could have been a comedy of errors into a triumph worthy of its own action movie sequel. With each bolt that surrendered to its powers, my husband's confidence soared higher than a superhero taking flight. And the best part? The humor! Oh, the laughter that ensued as my husband regaled me with tales of his epic battles with the bolts, complete with sound effects and dramatic reenactments. Who knew a can of penetrating oil could bring so much joy to our lives? So, to all the shade tree mechanics out there, I wholeheartedly recommend CRC Knock’er Loose Penetrating Solvent 03020. Whether you're facing off against starter bolts, rusty hinges, or any other stubborn foe, this superhero in a can is here to save the day – and provide a good laugh along the way!

Label is a lie. Works ok. Smells nice from the pine oil/turpentine in it.
Everyone seems to swear by some magic penetrating oil or another. I do not, and have tried them all, plus ATF, melted paraffin, bacon fat, cat vomit, Kroil, Mouse milk, whatever.... the most important things for loosening stuck fasteners are: patience, understanding what you’re dealing with, patience, lubrication, heat, patience....etc. Usually one stuck/corroded fastener is different enough from the last that whether or not it comes loose easily can’t really be attributed to this or that oil. This oil seems as good as any, though. Smells good. Price was reasonable and I had to buy something. If I start to have any evidence that it is special, I’ll update this. An update..noticed that it says on the can that it “dissolves rust and other corrosion”. I’m pretty sure this is just a lie. “Dissolve” would mean that the rust goes into solution. It doesn’t mean anything else at all. If rust doesn’t go into solution, like salt does in water, or grease in gasoline, it just does not dissolve. I have been soaking some rust flakes for days. I feel like an idiot doing it, because I knew it would not dissolve, and, no, it has not changed a bit. Rust on stuck fasteners is sometimes ground into a fine powder and mixed into a paste with any grease or oil...this product would dissolve the grease/oil, leaving you with a cloudy, oily mixture, but that is in no way “dissolving” any rust. Whoever came up with this mixture and wrote the label should know better. They probably did know better and chose to lie. If you want to make that silly claim, put some aqua regia in there, but I think you would need a better can, and a better lawyer. (For all the injuries and other destruction that would result.) Update # 2: It is July 18th. I wrote the original review in early May. I check on my little container of this stuff and the rust flakes in it regularly. The "knocker loose" is slowly evaporating. The rust is unchanged in any way. It is NOT dissolving. Again, I just can't believe that the can says "dissolves rust". It does not dissolve rust, so don't say that.

Well, that was easy!
Knocks'er loose all right! Smells great too! Has a strong and concentrated stream so wear eye protection and have lots of cleaner/rags on hand for post job cleanup. Definitely a permanent component of my repair arsenal now.

As good, if not better, than PB Blaster.
CRC is my primary go-to when it comes to the products I keep around my shop for my DIY projects. So, after I received my Knock'er Loose, I immediately got busy on some rusty mower deck bolts. I was very pleased with the results and only had to heat up one of the dozen or so bolts I had to remove. I feel like it's a very good product that's well worth the money I spent on it. I also appreciate that CRC sponsors several of the Youtube content creators that I typically watch. Honestly, Youtube is how I found out about CRC and their products.
