It helps break down the Mosquito BITS better and quicker. Although the mixture smells like genie pig food pellets, once you pour the mixture into the soil the smell lessen greatly. My friend and I had a fungus gnat infestation on our indoor plants due to some bad Miracle Grow soil {Miracle Grow is cheap for a reason >:( } She used Mosquito Bits for her plants for a few days and she hasn't had anymore gnats living in her plants. I changed out the soil to a better brand (lucky bamboo) but still had adults gnats laying eggs in the soil so I used Mosquito BITS till I got rid of all the adults (which took about a week) and it killed all the larvae. Seems like the bits would clog up the pump.
