A MUST read for anyone interested in their health
I would and have highly recommended this book to anyone who is the LEAST bit interested in preserving their health, loosing weight or concerned about their health as they get older. My health care provider recommended it to me when I showed an interest in bettering my health and trying to loose weight. While some parts are a bit dry and detailed, most of it was understandable reading. If you're ready for a change in your life, health and weight this will push you over, if you're not ready you probably aren't even reading this review.

A Non-biased View
I picked up "Grain Brain" by David Perlmutter because I was intrigued by his arguments that a human brain deteriorates in some respects when carbs are a part of the person's diet. A friend told me about it, and as I'm always interested in books on nutrition, I thought I'd check it out. Well, Dr. Perlmutter makes some valid points--perhaps--and does back up his claims with official studies, but until I picked up this summary, I had no idea that he refused to acknowledge or discuss the multitude of contradictory sources of information out there. This summary offers a non-biased approach to Perlmutter's theories, and it also does a great job of emphasizing the key points this neurologist is trying to make. Overall, I'm glad I came across this review, as it put a lot of this information into perspective for me and helped me make better sense of the book itself.

Useful Chapter by Chapter Information
This review discusses Dr. David Perlmutterโs book Grain Brain. The author is a neurologist who makes the claim that carbohydrates slowly cause neurological damage. He supports his theory with information about how the body responds to metabolizing grains and what happens when people have grain intolerances. Iโm skeptical of any health book that seems to villainize one eating choice, type of food, etc. Especially since the whole โgluten freeโ movement is so incredibly popular right now. This review brings up many valid points including the absence of response to opposing studies. Its clear from the tone that this review is not very favorable for the actual book, however, it does provide a breakdown of each chapter. I appreciate this greatly since I would have to purchase the actual book in order to get the little information that I would likely use from it.

Very informative
As a family, we have been trying to eat healthier. Both my wife and I grew up in meat eating, grease and fat loving, no so veggie friendly homes. We have never eaten terrible, but we have been making an effort to improve. Our issue is figuring out how.We have heard good things from friends who have gone gluten free, and have been interested, but didnโt really know where to start. To be honest I didnโt really know what gluten even was. This review was very well written. It gave me all the information I needed. It was very interesting reading the theories about how the foods we eat have been causing higher rates of disease, and how we have grown to accept a food pyramid that isnโt necessarily the healthiest thing for us. Overall it was a very informative read.

Not a summary
Buy this if you would like to pay money to hear what the author thinks about Perlmutter's book. Perlmutter gives pages and pages of scientific bibliography. The author gives shallow opinion.

Such a unique concept!
My lifestyle and diet includes a lot of grains because I do not eat meat. I came across the book Grain Brain: The Surprising Truth about Wheat, Carbs, and Sugar (Your Brain's Silent Killers) at a book store and I thought it was something completely different. I read the back and put it right back down, but I couldn't stop thinking about it afterwards. So I decided to find a summary. I am so glad I did. This summary put together by Save Time Summaries is amazingly thorough. I am positive the ideas are much simpler explained, but detailed so that they encompass all the important information found in each chapter. I now know I must read the full book by Dr. Perlmutter because I've read this summary twice now and I just can't believe how packed with information it is.

I'm Glad I Read This
I read "Grain Brain" by Dr. Perlmutter a few months ago. More recently, I stumbled across this review of that book, and I'm glad I did. When I read the book itself, I was almost sold on the idea that wheat, grain and glutin are our silent killers, that we should completely eliminate them from our diet. Now that I read this review, I know that Dr. Perlmutter's book is biased. He ignores many scientific studies that dispute his claim, and he makes statements that make no scientific sense to most other professionals. I almost embarked on a grain and wheat-free diet. Now I'll think twice about that, and do a bit more research using a less biased source.

The perfect summary
This summary helps explain exactly what this book is all about. It explains how Dr. Purlmutter would like for you to believe that wheat is very bad for you and that you should drop them completely. It also explains that the book offers a health-oriented view of how to deal with certain diseases rather than turning to doctors for pills to treat the symptoms of an illness. It also includes a self-assessment to help you better see what kind of changes you need to make to your lifestyle. All of these things wil really help you get started on your road to change.
