It depends on the color. Usually around 6-8 months after opening. **Q: wat colors do you get?** A: blue, black, brown, yellow, orange, red, green, pink, white, red--I think there are 2 different reds. Highly recommend **Q: Was the red a true red or do you have to use the whole bottle(like with the Wilton but still don't get true red) to get a true red?** A: I've never used Wilton gel dyes so, I can't comment on relative strength. But, a whole bottle of Chefmaster red gel would color a swimming pool. Example: one drop turns a large batch of macarons pink. Five drops turns them quite red (almost red velvet). **Q: Can this product be used to color cocoa butter?** A: No, it's water-based.
