My youngest son never learned to tie his shoes. He has high functioning autism. The Lock Laces work very well for him. We buy them each time he gets a new pair of shoes. The directions are easy to follow and put on the shoes!

I am a senior and have some feet issues. Especially toes. I tried the barefoot shoes and immediately noticed the extra room for my toes in the toe box of the shoe. But they were ties which created the problem of getting shoes on and tied. I tried to replace laces with lock laces. Worked like a dream. Able to adjust opening to wide when trying to get shoe on. Able to slide adapter on shoe to tighten. I am able to slide foot into shoe without disturbing other parts of shoe and then slide adapter to tighten i needed to replace a few of the. Pieces. Called the company sent me the pieces I needed and then some.anyone with feet that swell will appreciate the ability to loosen and tighten asvneeded

My favorite Sneakers look "All Terrain" in new Lock Laces. I put them on existing laces easily and set them for putting shoes on without untieing. There's plenty of space to pull the Lock tight, or loosen, as desired. Fantastic system that looks great.

After the 100's of items (I mean 100's) that I have purchased here on Amazon. This is my first review of a product. Not only because I like it so much, but also because I don't want others to go I did. Also, I see reviewers here that gave bad ratings to this product that wouldn't have if they end up doing what I did. I didn't give Lock Laces 5 stars because they do have issues. But, I do now like them. I started my elastic journey with another brand of laces sold here on Amazon, from "The Friendly Swede". To make a long story short, I think there is a reason they sell 5 pairs at a time. I am a software developer and as such have to have everything perfect. "The Friendly Swede" brand requires you to tie a knot at the end after lacing them up. So I did and cut the remaining laces. After about an hour I realized they were way too tight. But I cut them too short to make them comfortable. Since they were cut, I had to start over with a 2nd pair. After I screwed up my 3rd, I said enough is enough and ordered a pair of Lock Laces. At least I would have to tie knots (I have to have them at the exact length which I found hard to do when tying knots. Now I was a master lacing the new laces up. Had lots of practice. Fit great but as other reviewer here have mentioned, the locks don't really lock well. Every time I took off my shoes, the tongue of the shoe would push the lock forward a bit. No big deal until I went to put the shoes back on. I would have to spend an extra minute or two adjusting them to straighten them out. After a week this became too frustrating so I took them off and went back to "The Friendly Swede". Well, I cut them too short... I gave up on the idea all together and put my original laces back on. Well, if you ever wore elastic laces and went back to regular laces you know what I mean when I say they now sucked. I mean I have been wearing normal laces all my life. But now I have been spoiled by the elastic dream. I read a few reviewers here (actually many) who had problems putting on the clips or having the clips come off. And I had problems with the lock moving forward and the actual look of the clip. I had one extra pair of Lock Laces I was getting ready to return but I figured I would give it one more shot. This time I laced them up, put the locks on, but instead of cutting them and putting on the clips, I just tied them like a normal shoe. IT WORKED. The lock can no longer move forward when I take off my shoes. It also gave me a few days to totally adjust them without having to worry about them being too short. I didn't have the ugly looking clip and the shoe looks like any other shoe, accept I can slip it on and off with ease. Plus, it won't be an issue when I put them on my next pair of shoes. So, for anyone here purchasing the Lock Laces, I would suggest doing what I did. Don't cut them. Lace them up, put on the locks and tie it like a normal shoe. Even if you later decide to cut them and put on the clips, you would have had a few days to make sure they are comfortable before doing so. But if you are like me, you'll just leave it tied like normal. Once tied, they act just like the clips. Shoes slip on and off the the tie doesn't come undone due to the bungy material.

I had these years ago and liked them. But when the shoes wore out, I didn't think I could reuse the laces, so they went bye-bye with the shoes. I wanted to get some more, but I don't have any brand new shoes, and didn't want to put these laces on and then have to buy yet more new laces when I eventually replace the shoes. I see conflicting information about whether or not you can reuse these laces by prying open the clips. There is a review on here, where someone says not to cut the laces and just tie them like normal laces after you install the locking part. I tried it, but the laces were way too long, so they would still need to be cut. Aside from the elasticity, they seem to be similar to paracord, so after I cut some of the length off, I used a lighter on the ends so they wouldn't fray. Then I tied them. So far, so good. You could probably use some fray-check or maybe tape up the ends. I do love elastic laces. They make the shoes much more comfortable to wear, and I like the ease of donning and doffing. If this trick of lighting the ends continues to work, it'll be great to be able to reuse the laces.

Absolutely love these laces, have them on hiking boots to get in and out them quickly while also still being able to have them snuggly secured on my feet. There isn't much instructions on how to use them but I laced them up and locked them at a tension I felt would be comfortable walking all day in with the lock and then trimmed off the excess lace with scissors and lightly put a lighter to the ends of the frayed laces before clamping the laces together with the end cap. You can open the end cap by pushing down on the tab if you need to feed more excess through later but be careful once you cut the length because you can't undo that. I already can't wait to get a few more pairs of laces for my other shoes and to have spares as well!

Twice now these laces have snapped after a year. But I keep buying them because I like not having the laces. This time I'm going to try another type,

These laces are awesome. They fit well and removed all the pressure on the top of my feet. I now use them with all my hiking and laced foot wear.

This my first try at such shoelace. Was convenient without having to tie the laces. The fluorescent pink was also nice and mix very well with black sneakers.
