It's the ONLY thing that takes the manganese from my toilets. However...Bar Keepers Friend is AMAZING and cheaper and works a million times better. Also Iron out is extremely harmful to your lungs if you don't pour and run. That's why I quit using it. You can hardly breathe when you pour it in and if you do breathe ANY in you'll cough very badly. **Q: Will this kill mold?** A: As others have said, you need a product that contains bleach to remove and kill mold. Please DON'T EVER mix Iron Out with bleach! They are both highly toxic chemicals, and if they mix they can cause toxic fumes that could harm your eyes or lungs. **Q: Does the tablet turn the water blue?** A: I've used Iron Out toilet cleaner tablets. Haven't noticed the water turning blue. We use regular Iron Out granules in our water softener salt. It doesn't turn the water blue either. Hope this info helps. **Q: Does this product produce the same unpleasant fumes the powdered version produces?** A: No, there is no odor, I have my toilet in a small water closet, separate from the rest of the bathroom and there is NO smell or odor at all. The orange-ish stripes I had were so dark and engrained that I was embarrassed for anyone to use that bathroom bc it just looked dirty. I used the matching spray to clean and I dropped this product in the toilet tank. Stains started to fade immediately and about a month later the toilet bowl looks sparking white again. I have yucky Florida water, my water softner guy puts Iron Out grandules in my salt tank, but i never knew these toilet capsules existed. We have a softner and RO, but the toilet tank alway has a yellowy color and the bowl always had a slight ring at the water line.NOT ANY MORE! In only 3 days it has gone away!! The well we have has A LOT OF RUST!!! it also started having the BLACK MANGANESE with the rust!! IT had a problem with the ring of rust that could NOT be cleaned or removed. The water looked cloudy and tinted with rust. I tried everything and it would get the bowl clean but the rust stains were still there from the spouts around the bowl and the ring was still there. THEN the bowl below the ring and in the downward part of the toilet STARTED TURNING PITCH BLACK!! You couldn't see the bottom of the bowl! I was afraid to even use it, and didn't want ANYONE else to use it. It was embarassing. I tried scrubbing with Comet, ALL sorts of cleaners, I EVEN DUMPED A LITER OF COKE into the bowl with NO success. I found IRON OUT gel on the rust all over my shower stall and it worked great. I also had luck with Bartender's Friend but the gel worked a little better with less scrubbing. THAT WAS when I decided to try it for the toilet. I got the powder and turned the water valve off and flushed it. I used extra and scrubbed it all over and then poured some extra over into the the bottom and left it all night. In the morning I turned the valve on and scrubbed some more ( I bought a special scrub pad, there is a Toilet Ring Remover scrubber pad on Amazon for around $7. ) Then I flushed it. The rust ring is still there but the stains from the spouts around the bowl are almost gone and I actually could see a lot of white! There is only two small areas of black in the tube that goes out at the bottom of the bowl. I would say it is almost 90% better! The rust ring has been there since I moved in 5 years ago and it was there for long before I moved it when the house sat vacant with that rusty water in the bowl for YEARS before I moved in. So I put the IRON OUT tank cleaner puck in the tank to keep it from going all the way back to the black creepy bowl it was . SO far, SO good! I am just going to keep working on it with the Iron Out powder cleaning regularly and use the cleaning discs in between. It has done such a great job this first cleaning that I think it can only get better each time. I knew there was NO WAY all those years of neglect and well trouble was going to fix just once over night so I am just going to continue to treat it. After the difference I saw after just one use was good enough to make me want to keep at it. I know a lot of people have rusty wells but not many have the BLACK MANGANESE that STICKS and is near impossible to get off.
