Great for athletes
Highly recommended. I bought a pair of these ten years ago and they live in my freezer for the (mercifully rare) occasion when my knee needs some help. These work great, freeze quickly, are very adjustable and easy to put on, and are quite durable. If I needed more I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again.

Excellent Cold Relief
This is the second time I'm buying this product. (Both legs hurt, so now I have 2.) Last year, I used this when I was at a family outing, and having the cold packs on a large part of my hurting leg has helped me so much. The ice packs are unique in that they are made up of a lot of little square pockets, about an inch or so square each, and they are very comfortable to have on. There are 3 of the ice packs, and they are 4" wide and 11" long. They slide into 3, soft pockets on the inside of this wrap. If you open the entire "brace," and lay it flat, it measures 13" high x 16" long. It easily wraps around your leg, and two, velcro straps are very easy to wrap and hold onto the "brace." (I call it a brace because it keeps my leg snug and it is a lot like the comfort of other gadgets I use w/o ice in them. I prefer this one to all I've used because it serves a dual purpose.) You can remove the ice packs and freeze them separately or leave them inside the pockets and put the whole brace in the freezer. If I'm going to be out for a few hours, I bring extra "instant ice packs," that I substitute for the original ones, once they've melted. It really helps me with knee to ankle pain that can be very bad at times. (Of course, you re-freeze the ice packs that come with this. Don't throw them out.) Also, a big plus is that it is lightweight. I highly recommend this product. The color is as shown, blue and green. Odd color choice perhaps, but it works, and that's all I need. :)

One of my favorite "things!"
I love this wrap! It is one of my favorite "things." It is so comfortable and aides in pain relief and I like it so much, it's like a favorite pair of shoes or teddy bear! ;-) I have a serious low back/spine injury (I am scheduled for a THIRD surgery to hopefully fix it this time). The low back pain has now gone to my legs and is seriously effecting my left knee by causing it to swell and is very painful. I can not fully bend or extend my left knee. (Unfortunately my right knee is starting to be symptomatic as well :-( ) Anyway, enough of my "woes me." I wear the wrap mostly on my left knee. I can move around while wearing it and it gives me a lot of relief AND gives support as well! It's more comfortable than an ordinary knee brace. I go to bed wearing an ice wrap and once the ice melts it is a nice cushion and support. The wrap helps keep my knee to keep steady while I sleep and I don't twist my knee around, which causes great pain and wakes me up. The only negative thing about it for me is that the cooling ice sheets that come with it are too thin. It doesn't stay cold long enough for continued relief. So to get more cooling time, I cut ice sheets and added them to the wrap. They fit in nicely to the pockets and it was really simple to do. BTW I got the "Flexi Freeze Refreezable Ice Sheets 3 pack" sold on Amazon, which cost about $15. You can get away with only using one sheet if you piece the remaining squares that are left. I cut the strips three wide. It is a bit bulky, but the stretchy velcro bands allows the soft semi-stretchy neoprene to adjustment to secure the brace. It molds nicely around my entire knee. It's just the right amount of cold and does not cause ice burns. And the right amount of pressure for perfect compression and stability. I now have three of them so that I can rotate and alway have one cold. Though adding the ice sheets is pretty simple, I have three for the connivence and have at least one ready to go at all times. You could get away with only one knee wrap and rotate the ice sheets. But for me I am so sick of being in pain, I just want to be able to go to the freezer and slap one on. When I don't have access to a freezer if I am away from home, I bring zip lock baggies which can be filled with ice and stuff into the pockets. The baggies can leak sometimes as the ice melts, but usually I don't care as it's well worth the support and relief. I just make sure I have a large towel and have gotten used to hearing "your leaking." :-D The wrap is a big large rectangle with five pockets and sometimes I use it on my back too. The soft neoprene is just right, not too cold, just very cool and relieving. I know I have now spent around $100 by purchasing three wraps and extra ice sheets, but it is worth it! I am a cheap person and hate spending money on something my insurance company should provide, but the reduced pain and support is priceless!!!! I am also doing it for my liver and kidneys. Heaven knows with all the pain meds I have ingested over the past five, I am sure my kidneys and liver are not happy. :-P Though I am not free of them, the icing helps reduce how much and often I take meds.

Good Ice Wrap - Covers Above and Below the Knee
This is a good knee wrap for the knee if you want a lot of coverage area to be on ice. While it doesn't quite manage to wrap around the leg entirely, it still works well and it's comfortable. Usage: My legs are average sized and this knee wrap covered most of my knee as well as 2-3 inches above and below. Because of its size, you will not be able to walk very well - as this knee wrap will definitely hamper your ability to bend your knee during walking. As for it's ability to keep the knee cold, and on "ice" - it does this well, though to be honest I have other knee wraps that keep my knee colder for longer. (The Elasto-Gel All Purpose Therapy Wrap kept my knee colder for longer) Still, this particular knee wrap does work well enough, and most other knee wraps don't cover as much vertical area than this one. However I will note that this knee wrap is not quite wide enough to cover my leg entirely when I wrap it around. There is always a small portion of my leg that is exposed, and therefore not benefiting from the cold. Still, this is a small gripe because I don't require a total 360 degree coverage of my knee. Putting this knee wrap on: The wrap is made of a soft material (fleece-like) and utilizes two elastic straps which have a velcro patch and their tips. These straps are then wrapped around the leg along with main body of the knee wrap itself. The strap tips adhere to the surface of the main body of the wrap - as it is covered in a material that velcro sticks to easily. If you have a wide leg, I would still bet the straps would probably fit - however due to width of the main body of the wrap, it will not completely surround your knee area. If you want exact numbers here are my measurements of this knee wrap: Main wrap: 16 inches wide, 12.5 inches tall Elastic Straps: 11.5 inches wide, 2 inches tall each (note that you can stretch the straps to be wider) Freezing: This knee wrap comes with pockets and inside of t11hem are a series of small, plastic, gel-filled ice packs. Ideally you take out the ice packs out of the pockets and freeze them separately from the rest of the knee wrap (the packs freeze faster this way). But, I usually just throw the entire knee wrap into the freezer with the ice packs inside it - this suits me just fine. Conclusion Like I said before, I have had other knee wraps that seem to keep my knee colder for longer, but this is still a good product. I really like how large of a vertical coverage area it has (despite the fact that it's not wide enough for a 360 degree total coverage).

The I in RICE is for ICE
If you have inflamed joints, the standard triage is "Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation." (Actually we want rest, elevation, ice, and compression comes later, but you get the drift and you have the internet, a trainer, a physical therapist, or an orthopedic doc (or you're a mom).... There are many options for icing these days. We've used an "iceman" (uses circulating ice water, a bit cumbersome and the one we had was not so durable). We of course also have frozen vegetables (well, I know where to buy frozen peas anyway), gel packs for the cooler, blue ice bricks (too hard), and of course plastic bags with ice cubes. I can't quite imagine using a large beef steak, although I'm sure it would work, because I saw that movie years ago. But if you need to apply ice daily, a right sized wrap that maintains cold for about 20 minutes or more (this one usually lasts 30-40 minutes) is just the thing. And it should mold to your joint, secure easily with velcron straps, and be comfortable against your skin. This one is the large size, there is also a regular, and we just ordered a second one. (You know if your knee is the large size. You could use this pad other places or on smaller knees, but it's a bigger pad for slightly more money than the "Polar Ice Medium Knee Wrap".) It isn't as beefy as some other pads, but it turns out that is a benefit as it is cold enough, and it molds more easily around the whole knee because it isn't thicker. Because the gel is already in a pad, you don't need a separate holder for this, and the velcro straps attach anywhere on the pads. My intended user kept the plastic bag it came in because she likes to use it to keep the pad clean when she puts it in the freezer. She uses the refrigerator freezer for convenience, but I would point out that deep freezes are generally colder and gel goes to the temperature of the freezer, so the deep freeze would work even better, getting the gel colder faster, but I'm not about to tell someone with messed up knees to walk into the garage for that. The refrigerator freezer is working fine.

Well designed knee wrap
This is a terrific knee wrap after total knee replacement surgery. I keep it in the freezer until needed after exercising twice daily. Fits snugly yet comfortably. It contains some liquid capsules that freeze after a couple of hours and are small enough to embrace the entire area comfortably. Highly recommend.

Not bad, but not great either
First off, the description says that the color may vary - it's true. The one I received is kelly green. This isn't a problem in the slightest, but just thought I'd share. I was looking for another ice pack for me knees, and I purchased this one because of it's length (13 inch) and that it wraps totally around the leg. The length of the product is perfect. It completely covers my knee plus a good amount of skin above and below. This ice packs also covers almost my entire shin, which has also come in handy for some lower leg injuries. However, when I try and wrap it around my leg, it does not cover the whole circumference. In fact, about a 1 inch gap of skin shows. This shouldn't have been a huge surprise, since the size is listed in the description. This issue here is that the straps are somewhat uncomfortable when they rub on your leg. And keep in mind, I'm not trying to move around in this wrap (the size pretty much prevents you from bending your knee at all) - but the straps still bother me. The reason I'm only giving this product three stars though is because of the actual ice packs that come with it. It comes with three separate packs, and each pack contains 24 individual ice "compartments" (8 rows of 3 compartments - approx 13"x4"). The "cooling material" in these packs is water, which means that when you freeze them, the individual compartments become rigid. Since the packs have many of these compartments, they are still somewhat flexible, but not nearly as flexible as packs that contain gel. Also, the packs do not seem to stay cold that long. At most they stay cold about 15 minutes. The other packs I use (all are gel) stay cold more than 30 minutes. (However, this could possible be the fault of the sleeve, as the interior material is fleece-like and thicker than the material inside any of my other packs. I can't test this though since these packs don't fit in any of my other sleeves.) Overall, this isn't a bad product, but the actual ice packs could be much better.

By far the best ice pack I've used so far (I only regret not buying the larger one)
After being very unsatisfied with other commercial ice packs (e.g. one from CVS), I bought this after my last knee surgery. I still use it on a regular basis as I often have knee swelling and pain (I had a total of 4 knee surgeries after complete rupture of both crucial (ACL) and medial (MCL) ligaments during sports). Pros: - Has 3 sheets of ice with many small ice-pockets which make it flexible and greatly improve the contact surface for faster cooling. Also being more flexible you can actually walk a bit with this pack without it falling off. - Comes with it's own wrap in which the ice goes so no need for extra towels etc. you can use this directly on skin (but still also works through jeans) - Good quality: have used this for over 6 months and velcro, wrap and ice pack are all in good shape - Good price: similarly priced ice packs I've tried before are worse in all aspects - Smart design: the wrap is thin on inside (blue side for cooling) and insulating on outside (yellow): the ice pack still has ice (and still cools) after 20 minutes. Also the 3 Velcro straps allow you to fit this perfectly to your knee/leg. Cons: - It is not big enough to wrap around all of my knee (it goes 3/4 although I should say I'm a pretty big guy at 6 ft 3" and 220 pounds, so if you're small it might be big enough). However, for $5 more you can buy the same ice pack but bigger (which I would recommend for medium or large persons). Regardless it still does the job well. I use it for my knee and really immediately feel it taking away pain and swelling, so I haven't actually bought the bigger one. - The bright yellow color might not be the most fashionable but you use this at home and it actually does not look as ugly in real life as you might think. So for me not a real con. Also if you would leave the home with this, it will make people aware of your injury (like crutches), so might be a good thing. Conclusion: a must have for anyone who regularly uses an ice pack due to injury or sports.

Best Ice Pack for Knees - Great Value
The design of this is simple and effective. No need to use a gel pack wrapped in a cloth and held together by straps; which is what I was using. It easily stays cold for 20-30 min. which is what I need. The 4" x 11" plastic ice cube sheets can be removed from the pockets by opening the velcro. I bought separate 4" x 10" gel packs which fit neatly in the pockets (3 on the regular size; 5 on the large size) and can be kept in the freezer as back ups if the distilled water ones aren't cold enough when you are ready to ice again. The regular size is fine for me but I'm slim. I also bought the large size for my husband to use after knee replacement surgery. He is a much bigger person and his knee was quite swollen so the large was perfect. It freezes best when left flat in the freezer rather than folded up.
