(COMPLETELY REVISED EDITION WITH A THIRD NEW CONTENT) Improve Performance. Transform Your Career. Change Lives. Whether your team is in an office, on a field, in a classroom, or in your living room―have you ever thought they had more to give, but you weren’t quite sure how to get it out of them? Have you ever wanted them to play up to their potential, but didn’t quite know how to make it happen? Are you looking for that one new idea, that one simple strategy that will take your team’s performance―and your career―to the next level? If so, The Weekly Coaching Conversation is definitely the book for you. Every once in a while a book like this comes along with a message so simple―yet so profound―it literally changes people’s lives. In a story as inspiring as it is informative, bestselling author Brian Souza reveals the secrets to unleashing a person’s potential. Introducing a groundbreaking, yet simple-to-understand and easy-to-apply coaching framework that’s backed by years of rigorous research, The Weekly Coaching Conversation gives managers and leaders the playbook to turbocharge any team’s performance. Review: I will share this one often! - I am a super fan! It's a very quick read and a fun story. Brian's approach to story telling reminds me of Ken Blanchard and the One Minute Manager series. And its backed by real data and research (in the final chapters.) This story revolves around a young sales manager who just won "sales leader of the year," but still has a ton to learn. I learned quite a bit about my leadership style(s) and a few tips to keep me in the optimal zone. I'm going to recommend this read a lot I. It will go on my shelf of "go to" books I share with young leaders whom I mentor, right next to my One Minute Manager series. Review: Good book to start with - I really enjoyed the “fable” used to teach the concepts of coaching. It created a realistic and relatable person who experienced what many people experience today. The coaching framework is simple and gives a great starting point for managers who want to have better coaching conversations with their team. If you want to dive deeper into coaching and understand competencies, question frameworks, and more application you’ll need to find adding resources.

Good book to start with
I really enjoyed the “fable” used to teach the concepts of coaching. It created a realistic and relatable person who experienced what many people experience today. The coaching framework is simple and gives a great starting point for managers who want to have better coaching conversations with their team. If you want to dive deeper into coaching and understand competencies, question frameworks, and more application you’ll need to find adding resources.

Recommended for anyone looking to sharpen the saw
Easy read, very insightful, straight-forward approach. Brian takes lessons managers are (or should) be familiar with and replays them in a way that should make anyone who leads people to reflect and assess their approach. Initially I was disappointed because there were links to a lot of additional info included in the book that was missing on his website. When i reached out asking about the missing info he responded to me personally to confirm that he's updating the videos and should be publishing them soon.

Priceless!
The Weekly Coaching Conversation came highly recommended from a number of friends/colleagues and did not disappoint! The way the author weaved in the coaching tactics, strategies, and principles into this highly engaging "coaching conversation" between the two main characters (in a dive bar of all places) was brilliant! I also found the free bonus training that comes with the book extremely valuable as it goes a lot deeper into the new strategies introduced in the book. (And the videos were hilarious!) Just bought copies for my entire leadership team and recommend it to any manager/leader who wants to take their team's performance to the next level.

LOVE this new "Coach Approach!"
A few of my team members have been struggling to keep up... so I asked around for good books that might help and the Weekly Coaching Coaching was recommended by an old boss of mine. This book hit me straight in the heart and made me realize what I need to do to help them. (Spoiler alert: After a bit of soul searching I discovered I needed to change my approach... stop acting like a "Nice-Guy manager" and become more of a "Coach"!:) What a great, inspiring read with lots of tactical take-aways. Could not recommend a book any higher.

Superficial.....
The book is good, addresses important points but is very superficial. Perhaps it has been written intentionally in this way aiming to promote the website inasmuch as in the end of the book the author promotes the online tools ("we have literally had companies pay us hundred of thousands of dollars just for a program" - and its free for the reader). But even considering this possibility the book is somehow strange: * In a given chapter a character makes comment about a "Five Critical Coaching Questions" but he was interrupted by an event and was not able to finalized. Looks like it was part of the story but to my surprise the fable ends without mention what those five questions were (!!!)... in the appendix the author summarized all the message delivered in the fable and there those questions are reveled. I was wondering if the author got realized about this? If he did it intentionally or it was a mistaken... * Another problem is that the author encourages the reader to visit the website to get more information and also access some free videos BUT when I tried to access it, the website was "under construction" with this message: "Thanks so much for your interest in this new website. Rest assured, you will be among the first to know as soon as its released. Please be sure to watch for the email!" As the author mentioned, "I wanted to give you more to build on the momentum we've started to develop so that you can continue this journey we're on" - if you are looking for a momentum, this book will meet your expectation but for those who is interested in some good examples about coaching conversation and more about "how", it will not meets your expectation.

Good content but the "Masterclass" funnel is disingenious
The best content for this book isn't actually in the book. You have to click/visit the links and watch a long masterclass where there is good information but it should be in the book. There's very little tactical information in the book and it feels intentional.

The fable half of the book is fine, and there are some good pointers in the second half. There are some ads at the back to buy Souza's system.

Don’t waste your money!
This is by far the worst business book I’ve ever read. I think that the concept of coaching is very important - and kept thinking if I kept flipping the pages that at some point I would learn a few tips to improve my coaching skills. I was shocked to get to the end of the book, having learned nothing, to then be referred to the author’s website to watch over an hour of free videos which apparently would share some coaching techniques. Another waste of time as the videos were just a repeat of the book! Wow. How this book became a New York Times Bestseller is absolutely beyond me. The only purpose it appears to serve is to try to convince the readers to hire the author’s consulting firm where “maybe” they will finally learn the secrets to being a good coach.....
