RE: I've tried them all. This is the best mechanical pencil that is out there.
As an engineer, I can say that Pentel has mastered the mechanical pencil with this design. I have been using them since the early 1990's. They don't wear out. They rarely break. I keep buying more because they are often borrowed, and then I don't get them back.

Great mechanical pencil
I've used these mechanical pencils for 25-30 years. They are great. The .7mm lead is perfect for my uses. I just needed to replenish my stock.

Love these pencils. I use them as a Land Surveyor ... I have them in my office, my truck, and several in my vest!

Better than the Brits'
These come from an American manufacturer I've always associated with high-quality writing implements. After buying and throwing away useless examples from Great Britain, it was nice to see an American product that seemed to work as advertised. I am not sure of the durability since they have only been lightly used. They are a bit slender and light to be really comfortable to use, but they are not at all unpleasant. I expect to get a lot of use from them. And they are reasonably priced.

Excellent mechanical pencil
40+ years ago I found the Pentel 5 & 7mm pencil to be extremely well made, durable and a pleasure to use. Feel in love with it all over and the build quality is the same - excellent. Sometimes a pencil is just the correct tool. Only 40 years ago it was not design for heavy duty erasing task - make fewer mistakes or get a Pink Pearl eraser.
