Is it heavy gauge like a slow and sear?** A: It’s about the thickness of those charcoal chimneys or old metal trash cans or tonka trucks - I could bend it or crush it if I really wanted to, but I’d have to work at it. **Q: I have a weber 22” kettle and want to use the vortex with an arte flame insert. will they work together?** A: Not sure, I just have the vortex but, I am extremely happy with it!! It allows cooking in smaller quantities and gets a very direct output heat source. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent for searing steaks and making super crispy wings on the BGE XL! *by M***E on September 18, 2019* I have an XL Big Green Egg and the large Vortex is an excellent fit for the BGE and does a fantastic job of making super crispy wings. Everybody in my family wants me to grill wings on the BGE with the vortex now.I've also used it to sear steaks and it can brown and put very nice grill marks in about a minute. I mainly use the reverse sear method (learned it from Meathead) where I grill my steaks slow and slow then finish them at the end with a super high heat sear and the Vortex works great for that too. It also works great for putting on a sear on your steak at the beginning and then finishing off in indirect heat if you prefer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works Great With XL Green Egg *by L***H on June 2, 2024* This makes my third Vortex, bought one for the Weber and a second for the Egg. The smaller one was not getting hot enough for a good sear on the XL Big Green Egg. The large Vortex works great to get the sear on the Egg!!!!
