Limited 180 gram vinyl LP repressing of this classic album from the new wave icons. Plastic Letters is the second studio album by Blondie, released in February 1978 on Chrysalis Records. It was the second and final Blondie album to be produced by Richard Gottehrer. "Denis", a cover of Randy & the Rainbows' 1963 hit "Denise", was a hit all over Europe, reaching #2 in March 1978 in the United Kingdom, and was also a hit in Australia, reaching #19. "(I'm Always Touched by Your) Presence, Dear" was the second single from the album, reaching #10 in the UK in May 1978. The song was written by the band's original bass guitar player Gary Valentine, shortly before he left for a solo career prior to the album being recorded (which necessitated Chris Stein playing bass as well as guitar). In fact, during recording, Blondie were still at their old label, Private Stock Records. The album peaked at #10 in the UK and has been certified Platinum by the BPI. The pink dress Debbie Harry wears in the cover art was designed by Anya Phillips.

blondie's imitation notes!
One of the GREATEST "2nd Albums" by a Band.. Blondie experimented here demonstrating both the light poppy "Denis", with the slightly darker "(I'm Always Touched by Your) Presence Dear" and in between some great "missed" singles in "Love at the Pier" "Kidnapper" (a HIT in Japan!), "I Didn't have the nerve to say No!" and the frantic "Fan Mail" (one of the strongest endings to a song ever)... and you get to watch the band on the turntable as the music plays... MAGIC!

not good
I'm a big Blondie fan, But this album on picture disc (Vinyl) Is of poor quality sound wise, like all vinyl record picture discs, good to look at but that's it. If you wont this album to play then get it on BACK vinyl

With the exception of a couple of tracks, nothing else grabbed me
I had hoped to post a stellar review for this one. Sadly, this is not the case. With the exception of a couple of tracks, this is one that I will file away at the bottom of the draw.

Blondie no 2
1978's 'Plastic Letters' is much like the bands eponymous debut. Raw for sure, but slowly improving. With 'No Imagination' and 'Cautious Lip' pointing the way forward, 'Denis' charted at number 2 in the UK charts, helping bring the band further into the mainstream. Blondie would follow this album almost immediately with the sensational 'Parallel Lines' that very year.

Truly awesome blast from the past
One of the first albums I bought, it sounds just as good today. I even persuaded my teenage daughter to listen, a couple of tracks are now on her playlist.
