Great Filter, 5 Years old works great ,Pressure washing the unit is the key.
Been using this filter for 5 years for just our drinking water with no issues, maybe 60 gallons a month through it. I pre filter through 2- 5 micron and a big blue 5 micron and a UV light, We live on the water that catches off the roof, It’s pretty dirty when in enters the system. I change the pre filters every 2-3 months. Had trouble with it flowing slow in the beginning of use, They i found the key to cleaning it to new like flow. USE A PRESSURE WASHER.

Perfect fit into the Big Blue equivalent (Black/Clear housing from H2O). Easy to assemble, strong, and does not diminish the whole house flow rate at all. I have this located immediately after my 5000 ga water tank - pump - pressure tank system which then feeds house 1-1/4" main. Excellent choice for a passive filter device - actually, the only one I could find. I considered a UV system, but if the power goes out, then the bacteria could flow right on through, plus, those are $1000. Thoroughly satisfied over the last month although I've only run about 200 gallons through it. Lab water tests just arrived and fortunately pre-filter (tank) and post-filter (master bath faucet) water did not contain any bacteria. Piece of mind that this filter is in line. We can cook, clean, and wash with confidence.

Great for Mexico
Using this in recreational vehicle in Mexico to filter out bacteria, which allows common tap water (through a two filter series connection of a 1 micron pre-filter in combination with this filter) to be used to process common tap water where it can wash fruits and vegetables without having to add an iodine based product like Microdene or similar. I use a bladder tank upstream on my RV and this allows me to periodically disconnect the water source and then use the two bleeding buttons on my big blue filter housings to in effect reverse-flush this and the 1 micron pre-filter. So far 6 months into daily use and neither has slowed to a point to believe they qualify for replacement or cleaning. I reverse flush about once per month. ***** 2021 June Update - Wish there was a better governing body regulating water filters or at least some "real" numbers to do comparisons. Not many I would estimate use this filter and it's hard to tell how it is working. My first one was working great flow-wise but after the review I found one of the filters cracked and that's one way to speed the flow LOL. So I replaced it at my own cost due to it being out of warranty. From all I have read about ceramic filters, everyone says they can be cleaned almost indefinitely but this one definitely exhibits a slowing of the flow over time and the longer you go and the more you clean it, the shorter times between serious scrubbing of the ceramics will be needed. Now after adding filter #2 one year ago, recently #2 has begun stopping up every month and cleanings were lasting only a few weeks (I have a 1 micron paper filter I keep changed in front of it) so I got tired of cleaning it and phoned Doulton (think they are in the UK) and it was obvious I knew more about this filter than they did but they finally found someone who knew about the filter who said the lifespan was about a year and not "infinite" like you see with all the youtube videos claiming ceramics can be constantly cleaned and reused. So long story short, after 4 years I am now on filter assembly #3 and not happy about the frequency of clean outs and replacements but I don't know what else qualifies as a good replacement since this is the only style ceramic that has acceptable flow-rate. Still I have read other reviewers here who had their water from it tested with unacceptable results and it makes me wonder quite a bit about what I am getting with this. The design seems well thought out if you discount the first one single candle that shattered for no reason but like any water filter these days, the company reviews are mostly written by the marketing department and while every company's filter today claims to have been "submitted" for WQA/NSF testing, I have not to this date found a single water filter sold on any website that has been approved by these official organizations. So what am I saying? I would say it is a "soft-buy" due to there nothing else touching it with a reasonable flow-rate and while taking time to still question the popularity of ceramic filters and the good they have done in 3rd world countries for the local water supplies. Nevertheless "some" filtering is always better than "none" and I am certain these are better than the "beer can" size filters everyone buys from Wally world and believes is filtering their water. **** In fairness this filter could be used in a high pressure home system for much longer periods than in my 45PSI RV because in the RV, the pump shuts down each time 45PSI is attained and if the filter is between the pump and the water tank, when the filter gets slightly clogged, this makes the pump cycle abnormally and continuously. In a home installation, the water flow would slow rather than causing pump-surcg which makes me have to clean it too often because of the extra surging when the filter begins to be restricted flow.

Does not remove Coliform as advertised
I see all the water flow problems but nothing on wither it actually does what is advertised on cleaning E-Coli / Coliform by 99.99%. Water flow no problem because I read the reviews and installed a 5micron pre-filter. Here is the real fault, the unit been installed for one month and I took a water sample to our Water Treatment station and had it tested. It failed miserably, water is unsafe to drink because of Coliform which can and does cause digestive problems. We have no E-Coli before or after the filter, so I cannot comment on it.. Our water comes from a spring in the mountains in Tn. Our water system has a UV Filter installed which takes care of any e-Coli / Coliform problems. Why did I install the Doulton unit you ask, when the power goes out the UV Filter stops working and the little bugs propagate past the UV filter. Now I have installed a battery backup for the UV Filter and removed the Doulton unit because it does not do as advertised.

Clogs too fast
Be sure to send this filter bottled water or it clogs almost instantly. I have my water filtered down to 1 micron before it hits this filter and 10 gallons later it's so clogged it will no longer pass water threw it. Either my water is very dirty despite the 3 filters that come before it or something is wrong with it. Tried troubleshooting threw the company and they weren't much help. When it is clean it reduces flow dramatically so keep that in mind. Overall for me it was a waste of money. Go with the UV light.

Sweet
I use this in my 40 ft foretravel Motorcoach, where I have three 10-in big blue water filters. The first one is a 10 micron sediment filter, the second is a carbon block filter and the third one is this. I ran it for 3 years and then just replaced it. It's easy to clean, and seems to do a really nice job of filtering the water that I bathe in wash my dishes in and occasionally drink. Mostly I drink purified water that I buy at kiosks 5 gallons at a time, but I have really no hesitation on drinking from my 105 gallon water tank with this filter in it. I have it set up that when I fill my tank it filters through it and then when I pull it out it filters again so double exposure maybe...

fast shipping, good product. Good product, but i issue a warning to anyone who aunt used to ceramic filtering, once its screwed in, you cannot unscrew it, as ceramic becomes very brittle once saturated in water. I broke two of them in trying. Since i wanted to check if it really filtered everything. Filters pretty much everything, but i have alot of lime, so it block pretty fast. I have to pre filter lime before the ceramic. But am pretty confident once this is done, the ceramic part will do its job and only be clean once per 6 month.
