Good build quality, excellent cool factore, might fit that niche of a two-wheeler you're looking for!
So glad this scooter is an option! We have a 10 year old with some motor skill delays who refuses to practice riding a bike. While he's getting good enough to get around on a razor, obviously the surface types are limited. I love that he can use this scooter to master the basics of two-hand braking (more on this in the "cons"), steering and balance -- all-the-while being on a trick-ready, solidly-built scooter that holds it's own in coolness factor. I know our 12-year old will also love it once she's able to get her hands on it! Assembly was no big deal at all. I was prepared for a fight after reading some of the other reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. Perhaps some points of assembly had been addressed by the manufacturer based on feedback? Interestingly, there were no instructions at all included -- though perhaps there is a link on a website or something if it came to that. However, the photos on the box are great -- even a couple close-ups of how the braking cables attach so they proved all the references you *should* need. As a couple of notes: (1) the handlebar nut as shipped was slightly loose and just needed a half turn to keep the handlebars and front wheel in alignment. (2) pre-loosen the front brake cable at the caliper in order to easily make the connection to the hand lever. Look at how it attaches on the rear brake lever for comparison. (3) I added a zip tie to hold the front brake line close to the front fork. Doing so helped the front brake calipers "open up" on both sides when the brake is released, preventing brake pad rub. You'll see what I mean once you get into it. (4) I opted out of putting on the buddy pegs, they seemed like a ripped up leg waiting to happen. Pros: Packed really well. The box is sturdy and all components are wrapped-up nicely -- had no damage that I've found. Build quality seems strong -- I actually like the weightiness of the steel frame as compared to the aluminum razor. 12-inch, air filled tires will make this a breeze to stay caught up on walks and family bike rides even though our roads are hilly and have a rough asphalt surface. Chews up groomed, unpaved trails and greenways. Wide, sturdy deck. Adjustable handlebars rock. Cool points. Con(s): Not a huge fan of the plastic rims -- I might be tempted to find a steel wheel replacement because I feel like the plastic is significantly hampering the stopping power. Perhaps once the brake pads and wheels get roughed up a little there will be more grip? I would only dock this a half of star though because if you adjust the brakes well, they'll do a good job of at least bleeding off a good amount of speed, but not able to lock the tires into some power skids. In any event, easier to ditch than a bike if things go south fast.

Great for adults and kids. Much safer than any other pedal scooters, great for for rough terrain.
This is a truly great scooter - the best peadal scooter you can buy - by far! Much safer than small wheel scooters that are VERY dangerous to use outdoors. This has pneumatic tires and can be ridden off-road on grass which means it is also great on rough sidewalks. It is also very fast. I am 165 lbs., 5 ft 10 in tall and can ride no problem, it is very sturdy. Kids also love riding it. I don't understand the complaint about hurting ankles, these are rubber caps that come with it to out on the rear axles to protect you, then you just learn quickly how to pedal without striking the scooter. Brakes work well but must be carefully set up or won't work. You need to read instructions and know how to adjust brakes or watch a YouTube video. There is no other scooter in the market in this class anymore. This is the kind they had when I was a child, but even better! I'm a mechanical engineer and I seriously approve of the design. If you have a bike, get one of these too for some variety of exercise and fun! Bought to keep up with my daughter when we took off her training wheels but can still help her over curbs and getting started while on my scooter. Now all the cousins want one too and will get two more for Christmas!

Nice Scooter, assembly had challenges
I can't lie, this scooter takes some time to put together, and I've put together everything for my kids from bikes to cribs and in between. I had read reviews and knew people had issues, but I figured maybe 1 hr, 2 tops. It doesn't look like much when you open it, as the frame is intact and the tires are simple to attach. But, with dual handbrakes, and the odd split handbrake cable just below the handle bars, it gets tricky and you tend to fuss with the break calipers quite a bit. Mongoose splits the cables and has this odd system where pulling on the rear handbrake pulls an upper cable which then pulls a washer attached to the lower cable to the rear brakes, just so that the handle bars can spin without the cables getting tangles. A nice idea for advanced riders, but not necessary for younger kids. I had several issues with the lengths of their cables, getting them tight enough to apply good pressure to the front and rear breaks. With that said, the bike seems solid. I have no concerns on safety and my son will have a blast riding this scooter. It reminds me of the Yo! scooters from Schwinn that I used when I was a kid. The only issue is the assembly. You really need to know how brakes and hand brakes work on bikes and how to adjust them properly. It's not easy and can be frustrating. Just and FYI. You get past that, it's a fun little scooter for a 7-14 year old kid.

Nicely made, sturdy, and love the bike like wheels & hand breaks!
My kids are 6 & 8 and love it! Itโs a little big for my 6 year old but we adjusted the handle bars and now heโs starting to take off on it. It is a little hard for him to handle it too bec of the size.. but heโs determined heโs got it! Lol. It is a nice size scooter for sure! It isnโt like the small Razor scooters with those โrollerblade wheelsโ. They will have these scooters for a long time! Even my 8 year old has plenty of time to grow into this! Letโs just say they wonโt grow out of it in a year ๐ and I love how they have bike wheels instead of the other kind with โroller blade wheelsโ.. they can go on and off road with this one! Which is awesome! And has hand breaks!!๐๐ผ My 8 year old has ruined so many pairs of shoes bec of his old scooter.. the break was located on the rear of the foot board which made it hard for him to slow down.. so he would drag his foot on the ground ๐ and would come in with holes in his shoes lol!! So they are really enjoying them and so am I ๐.. no holes in shoes since we now have hand breaks, no kids almost flying over handle bars bec they tried going from pavement to grass with those โroller blade wheelsโ, and it will last them for years!! Great buy! Only thing I wish it had was a kick stand! Iโm looking into whether or not I can put a universal kick stand on or not. They are too nice to let them lay on the ground!

Cool scooter
I would have given 5 stars across the board but I'll explain the 4 stars. Assembly is easy but I've put many bikes together over the years. I gave 4 stars cause of a nut missing for the gyro and the brakes were out of wack. It seams to be very sturdy, I rode around on it and I'm 220 lbs., so for my 60 lbs. daughter it should be just fine. Durability, should also be fine with my daughter except the brake cable that runs on the bottom and through the frame should have had the cable enter and exit up higher on the frame cause my daughter ran the scotter off the edge of the driveway and the cable scraped badly, so I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Great street cruiser
Easy set up. Rides great. I recommend you buy replacement inner tubes. Tire popped on like the third day of riding.

Very cool, my kids should love them, but a pain to put together and missing hardware...
Let me start by saying that I have put together my fair share of self-assemble items and have done plenty of handiwork around the house, but I have never done work with bicycles. I ordered five of these from two different retailers (because of color availability and shipping speed since they are for Christmas). I mention that because this helps reduce the possibility of a one-off manufacturing or packaging error had I ordered just one of these items. For starters one out of five was totally unable to be assembled - the end of the front brake cable was either fused or completely stuck in the main nut that keeps the front stem aligned. The cable is supposed to move freely through that nut so that you can secure it to the front brake handle on the handlebar. Incidentally the box for this one also arrived open but all of the padding and stuff was still in place. OK - that was probably the manufacturing anomaly. That one's being exchanged. For the other four - The directions do not tell you that you have to squeeze the front brake calipers/pads together and secure them, then loosen the nut that secures the cable on the caliper, in order to get enough slack on the brake cable to feed it into the front brake handle. And once you've done that, if you pull too much cable on top you'll lose the cable inside of the rubber/plastic tube that houses it, and that's fun to get back out. Then you have to release the front brake so that you can put the wheel on later. On to securing the cables for the rear brake - there are two cables that secure to a doo-hickey on the front stem that allows it to rotate 360 degrees without cables getting tangled. It's easy enough to get the cables where they are supposed to go, but one of the four remaining scooters didn't have the little nuts to keep those tightened in place...the rest were fine. The cables still screw into the rotating doo-hickey so I imaging this will not cause a problem. Ok, on to installing the wheels - each wheel is supposed to have **TWO** (per the instructions anyway, for a total of 4) little ring washers with a hook on the end that goes into a hole in the frame - this appears to be the only thing that actually keeps the wheels attached to the frame, so you'd think those would be QC'd and on every wheel, but nope, they aren't. Every single scooter had two of these special washers and two random washers that served no purpose other than to be spacers...so each wheel got a special washer and a regular one, and here's hoping that's enough to keep them on the frames!! And now the brakes...ok, these are total crap. They were nearly impossible for me to align and tension correctly. Each one turned out slightly different but it seems that for all of the scooters I got one arm of the caliper to move and the other one won't. Lastly...the cramps that are on the free ends of the brake cables WILL fall off and leave sharp frayed ends. I purchased heat shrink tubing to cover those up. So...I think for the light use my children will get from these they'll be fine, but a lot of frustration came with them!

love this scooter
very nice scooter, my kid loves it. I chose this one over some of the others because of the air filled tires. I live in a older neighborhood and our streets are very grainy, hard for my kid to ride a traditional scooter with skate wheels. my only concern when buying the bike was people said it was hard to put together, but I found it really easy. the rear tire attachment was different than instructions but overall no different than any other bike install I have done for my kids over the years. the minimum height is 43 inches and maximum weight is 220 lbs, they say 8 plus years old but I purchased this for my 4 year olds birthday. of course he is 44 inches tall and 65 pounds so he meets the requirements there and seems to like it better than some of the smaller cheaper scooters we have tried before. If I could change one thing I would have wanted a kickstand, but most scooters don't come with it anyway. Very impressed with the quality of the bike, even the brakes, yes the brakes work well as long as you know how to properly adjust them as well as the handlebar being a freestyle bar means that the brake wires won't get twisted up if my kid twists the handlebar.

Awesome
Amazing scooter, been used to its full potential for years and still in excellent condition even though it's been hammered. Took a while to come but well worth the wait

An absolute head turner.
Brought it out to the park and it was an absolute head turner. Had kids asking their parents what it was? Was it a kick scooter or a bicycle? Or both? Good on most terrain, smooth and fast but I do not think it is meant for adults. Itโs too short for me and im at 5โ4. A real pity as I would have wanted it for myself. Otherwise, it will make a great gift for a child.
