No problems with this adapter; works great. Be conscious of orientation when attempting to connect. On my Surface it is simple; the graphic on the connector needs to face the user for proper connection.

I purchased several of these StarTech 2 in 1 display to HDMI ports for the office. We wanted to be able to connect two monitors to the computer. These seemed well made and worked like a charm. We were able to connect one monitor to the computer HDMI port and another monitor to the adapter. The adapter then connects to the display port on the computer. I would recommend this product.

Perfect solution for my Dell Ultrabook, which does not have an HDMI or VGA port. No downloading of software necessary. October 3, 2014 Update: The adapter has pretty much quit on me now. I did the tiresome troubleshooting and after testing all possible combinations, narrowed it down to the adapter, which when connected, provides no recognition between TV and laptop via the HDMI port and no recognition between laptop and the LCD projector, via the VGA port. Very disappointed.

I actually pre-ordered this adapter which was scheduled to be available on Feb. 14. It arrived 3 days earlier than the estimated date of arrival...whoo-hoo! I purchased it to use with my Microsoft Surface Pro 2 tablet, which only has USB ports and a Mini DisplayPort. This adapter WORKS FLAWLESSLY with TV, stand-alone computer monitors, and video projectors! It perfectly displays on the big screen in our church's Family Life Center... even going through our "ancient" video projector system/sound tower. I highly recommend this adapter .... it is worth every penny!

I use a Microsoft Surface tablet had two different video converters in my bag. Switching to this converter means less stuff in my bag. So far it is working great, and it is at a good price. With that said, I was using an HDMI only converter from StarTech which stopped working after a few months. It's hard to say if quality issues will be present in all StartTech items, but my experience is that you may expect these items to have a more limited lifetime than desired. We've ordered extras at the office so we can quickly replace them - but it is a real drag to show up at a client only to find out that you cannot connect to a projector - and carrying backups in your bag defeats the purpose.

Warning to Surface Pro 3 users: I bought this product for my Pro 3, and its design was not intended for it! Sure it works, but not for very long. The problem is that the block is only attached to a 6 inch or so cord, so the block will hang while putting pressure where the display port connects. The pressure causes stress which will eventually cause the image to lose certain pixels to losing colors in the output, and eventually to not displaying picture at all. In essence, this product works well, just is a horrible design to be paired with the Surface Pro 3.

The StarTech Mini DisplayPort to VGA/DVI/HDMI Adapter Converter and its little brother, the StarTech Mini DisplayPort to VGA Video Adapter, BOTH work with the Dell XPS 13. They are however slightly fussy about the order in which they are installed. (1) insert the adaptor into the laptop mini displayport; (2) power up the laptop; (3) hook up the monitor; (4) switch on the monitor; (5) hit F8 to select your display priorities. I have only had them a couple of days, but they feel like solid kit. If anything goes wrong, I'll amend this review.
