The friction plate broke on the engine and the company recommended replacing the pawls at the same time. This kit contains all that you would need. The original didn't have the springs so I didn't use them. I do see where another reviewer used them to help push them out and if I have to replace them again I will try that as well. Works just fine, engine starts first pull.

The items were a right fit for my Mclain lawnmower. Came at the right time to get my lawn cut, I gave it a 4 star cause not sure how long it will last before it break due to the plastics.

It worked and hopefully will continue working.

The secret is in the springs. They were missing from my old setup and the pawls kept falling out. I used all of the parts from the kit. It works well and I expect many years of service. Excellent quality parts. Suggestion: When starting the engine, gently pull out the rope until the pawls catch, then pull hard. Jerking the rope will break the starter no matter what parts are in it.

It looks hours to figure it out by trial and error. Fyi - below the part and behind the plastic wheel is a recoil spring. Try not to move the plastic wheel holding it down' or else the spring will come out and you will have to figure out how to recoil the spring and put it all back together. Plan on loosing atleast 1 spring. If you have some sort of big magnet' you might be able to wave it over a large area and snap it up?

Eingebaut und nach dem 2 versuch den Rasenmäher zu starten ist das Teil gebrochen. Absolut minderwertig und nicht zu empf2. Wenn es möglich wäre würde ich null Sterne geben. Bin mal gespannt, ob ich mein Geld zurück bekomme.

Update: The pawls seem disconnected now. Ill have to open it up and see the issue. Will report back on the main cause, hopefully not cracked! Update: its not cracked, the screw of the cap was loose making pawls not come out. I tighten the screw and now its engaging. Overall, I feel the plastic is alot stronger than the oem. I replaced my cub cadet briggs and stanton mower pawls and cap. My pawls and pulley broke after pulling too hard. I also used the 2 springs which I did not have in my mower before which fit under the pawls. The springs pushes the pawls against the grooves of the cap more. After replacing the pulley and pawls, my lawn mower started after the 2nd pull. The cap seems to be a harder plastic than the original which seems softer. Overall, great purchase and saved me money in the long run. Good to know I can purchase and replace this part in the future.
