I have an item I used it on that needs to be indoors. It's on my sunporch now, still rather smelly.** A: A day or two **Q: Is it water tight and compatible with posca pens?** A: When properly applied, the coating is nearly as good as professional products applied with spray equipment, so it'll be watertight as long as it fully covers the parts and the parts have no moving edges or seams (which would of course make a crack that would allow water ingress). sharp edges or corners could also provide points where the paint could become damaged and break a seal, but this applies of course to any coating. I have no idea about posca pens, or in what way it would or wouldn't be compatible. **Q: Is there any issues with temperature while applying? I would be using it in an unheated garage at 40 to 50 degrees or less on a surface equally cold.** A: 6 quarters later, just for future people who swing by... Colder temps mean it comes out thick, and flows slowly. You're more likely to get runs, sags, orange peel, or possible reflow defects. Coverage will be lower. It also takes longer for the solvent to evaporate. If you're planning on sanding your clear coat, the it could be okay. If you want to gun it and forget, then it really needs to be warmer. Using a heat gun is risky. It's very easy to boil, burn, bubble, or otherwise damage the paint all the way through. A space heater is probably better, but beware of fumes in an enclosed area. I've been known to leave the house door open and insulated garage door closed, and just let the garage warm up for an hour or so before I spray. **Q: Does this can rattle because mine does not?** A: Rattles are used to mix pigments in colored paints and primers. Gives a beautiful finish, looks great! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent clear coat. *by J***T on March 24, 2012* This is by far the best clear coat I've used. It is the only rattle-can coating I've found that gives results similar to a full compressor/spray gun/booth setup. I use it professionally on small products and touch-up (the larger parts and long runs get sent out, as we don't have a spray booth in the shop). This gives a very clear, high glass coating with high build. It is even somewhat forgiving on surface imperfections, and gives a good indication of how a given level of prep will coat with the full spray setup. I have not found the round spray pattern to be a problem. Even though others complain about it, I'm not sure I agree that a fan spray pattern would be nicer, as this nozzle gives me full symmetric coverage. Yes, you do have to keep it moving, but that is true of any spray painting -- always start the spray off the part, move across, and release the trigger momentarily for the turn-around. You really have to distinctly stop in one spot fairly long to get the bubbles, and you'll probably also get runs with that long a hold. The only actual negative I can think of is that it is really smelly, so use it outdoors or with VERY good ventilation. Even if you spray it outside and bring the parts in, it will outgas for some time and probably smell up your shop for a day or two.
