Is the heel cushion thicker than the rest of the insole? How much does it lift the heel compared with the rest of the foot?

The heel cushion is thicker than the rest of the insole. It is about twice as thick. I bought them for comfort on long walks or hikes but you could get the same effect with cheap ones by doubling the insoles or more heel support.

How can you clean these ? Are they washable?

I replace mine every few months. I also rotate my work boots daily so it's never the same pair twice in a row because I wear leather steel toe work boots. Recommend 2 or 3 pairs of work boots. Maybe expensive at first, but well worth the price in the long run. That's just my thoughts though.
