It is quite padded, more so than I thought it would be, which is a good thing. No one wants a thin, rough and scratchy strap rubbing on their shoulder. The leather ends are strong and I do not see them becoming loose or not holding my guitar, also went on without too much of a fight. I love the 70's look it gives my guitar and I see myself keeping this on for years to come. I did have to tie a string to attach it and I wish they would include one for people with guitars that need one but it does not take away from this strap. I would buy another in a heartbeat.
