Grip-It Magic Stop Rug PAD, 8x11, White

Works as Advertised but Correct Installation is a Must!
The Magic Stop has been down for over 2 months and has indeed kept the 8x10 Area rug on Berber Carpet from slipping. Prior to the Magic Stop install, I had to get the bumps/humps out of the area rug at least once a week. Post install, it has not moved an inch. One thing to make sure of is a correct install. And believe it or not this product did NOT come with any install instructions. If I had not found them in your customer reviews, I would certainly have installed it wrong. I'm including it here again because it is an important aspect of enjoying this product. ---- { I found this at another website and have learned to always check Amazon before buying. The other website had instructions not found here. After reading reviews, I wonder if the instructions were followed, especially the part about removing the clear backing on the area rug side. I am pasting the instructions below."This pad is used for rugs on top of carpet. Placed between the rug and the carpet, it prevents wrinkling and crawling. A thin, slightly tacky pad which 'adheres' the rug to the carpet without damage to either. The pad can be moved many times, even washed to rejuvenate the adhesive. Rounds and odd sizes can easily be trimmed to fit. For installing under large area rugs, follow these instructions: 1. Position the rug in the room exactly where you want it. 2. Mark the carpet beneath each corner of the rug with a piece of masking tape then roll the rug out of the way. 3. With the sticky side facing the carpet and the clear, protective backing facing up, line up two edge of the rug pad about 1/2 inch inside the marked area on the floor. If the pad is larger than the marked area, allow only two sides to extend beyond the markers. The excess will be trimmed later. 4. Carefully lay the rug pad down on the carpet and run your hands over the pad to smooth it in place. Push any excess material to one side of the area, making sure the pad remains within the markers on the floor. 5. Slowly peel the clear backing off the pad to reveal the adhesive facing up. 6. Line up 2 edges of the rug inside your marked area and unroll into position. Smooth the rug into place. 7. Trim or fold under any excess rug pad. Made in U.S.A.."} I hope this helps.

A PRODUCT WORTH 5 STARS
I don't write many reviews, but this product is worth five stars & more. I have a flat-nap carpet similar to carpeting you might see in Las Vegas. Over that, I put a large shag throw rug. It moved around and bunched up horribly. I bought this Grip-It Magic Stop Non-Slip Pad for Rugs and the shaggy rug hasn't budged since. The rug is in my sewing room and I'm constantly bouncing around my chair, moving from ironing board to sewing table to workspace table...lots of movement...and the rug stays put beautifully on top of the carpet with this pad between. I read a review that had specific instructions included and I followed those instructions, so please search below this posting to find the helpful review. The most important steps are to put the removable-film side UP...press the pad in place with your feet or hands and then remove the protective film and lay the rug on top, again pressing it firmly in place.

Very Very happy my problem is solved
Worth every cent because it really solves the problem. I had a rug on top of a rug under a heavy living room table (four legged) in a vacation rental and every time I go in after my guests leave the rug is all bunched up in front of the side chair. Last guest said it was a hazard and I should get rid of the rug but it adds a lot to the decor and protects the carpet in a high traffic area too, so I went on Amazon to see what I could find. I couldn't believe I found something for carpet on carpet because it's usually for rugs on hard floors. I read all the reviews and even printed a persons instructions they created for installing. Once I got it under my rug and pressed out the wrinkles it is there to stay.....Very Very happy my problem is solved. We did approach the installation differently; moved the table, turned the rug up side down and laid the pad on top cutting the excess only then pulling the plastic from the pad only a little to expose the sticky area. Next we flipped the rug over right side up gradually pulled the plastic and pressing the wrinkles out and you go. Once that is done we used scissors to trim the pad so it did not show beyond the edge of the rug. Took about an hour with two people and it was done.

MAGIC STOP INSTRUCTIONS....GREAT PRODUCT IF INSTALLED CORRECTLY (no instructions in packaging)
MAGIC STOP AND AMAZON You need to add instructions with this product! If not for a Joseph's review from 2013, we would not have done this correctly! We have had difficulty as many people attempting to lay a large carpet 6x9 over an existing carpet, and have spent much money trying...this WORKED but installing it correctly is a MUST. I am copying the instructions that Joseph Molinsky shared in 2013. DO exactly this way, he found them on line and WHY they are not included is crazy!!! BUT the product is working great!!INSTRUCTIONS AS SHARED IN 2013 BY JOSEPH M. IN HIS REVIEW!For installing under large area rugs, follow these instructions: 1. Made in U.S.A.."

It lost it's grip and left residue...
The Grip-It Non-Slip Pad for Rugs Over Carpet hung onto the wall to wall carpeting really well, but it never did a very good job of gripping the area rug we put down on top of it. I removed the area rug after about 1.5yrs because it stretched and was bulging in the spots that weren't adhered. Then I had to deal with adhesive backing left behind after pulling up the non slip pad from the w2w carpeting. A couple carpet cleanings, and a couple rinses using the carpet cleaner filled with vinegar and water did very little to remove the residue and the entire area is a magnet for dirt now.

finally a solution
I got a couple of mats after reading all of the reviews. I put a door rug on top of wall to wall carpet and it stays put. I'm extremely happy because I've tried nails and other sticky mats none of which worked. I recommend it.November 9 2018 Update. The holder mat is slipping a little now. I'm guessing if I wash it it will return to its original stickiness. We'll see!

Works very well but can be tricky to use.
Does a very good job of holding a large rug flat over wall to wall carpet. Solved the problem more effectively than individual two-sided carpet tape strips applied at each edge. However, care must be taken when peeling off the protective covering as the pad tends to stick to itself, and a pad of this large size can be difficult to manage. Some suggestions for application enclosed with the product would be helpful.

Does not work very well
I originally used this as directed. The carpet on carpet still moved and you could see the underlay. So I added 2 sided carpet tape. Still moved - almost rolling, rippling effect. I would not recommend. Problem is once cut to fit the carpets, I canโt return. Was not worth it for me.
