They work well. We were in band and enjoy them. Sturdy enough for all the kids to use also, including and mostly by toddlers.

Not strong enough for a 3 year old.

Definitely not meant for little kids, the wooden handle broke in half making a stake for slaying vampires not for a toddler to play xylophone.
