All the videos I see of this bottle have a spray top.** A: Mine did not. It is a fairly aggressive product so you have be careful. I would think spraying might be a bad idea. I painted 3 coats and it worked great in my application **Q: How much will one quart cover? Enough for the bed of a Toyota pick up?** A: Hi Eric. You do use it sparingly, brush it on like a very thin paint. It takes three coats normally and you only use it on surfaces that need the rust conversion. I assume your entire bed is not rusted out. This will restore the metal and add strength so it acts like metal instead of crumbling. Be aware you will need to paint it within 24 hours. You can paint or primer but the surface can't be left exposed. I would start with a quart, I think that should be fine. **Q: What is the shelf life of this product after opening?** A: Years! I first bought Rust Mort twenty years ago and it worked until I used it all. So I bought more from Amazon. **Q: how well does this work I don't want to be buying a dozen different rust removers is it better than naval jelly for instance?** A: I think it works awesome you just paint it on it turns black you paint right over it, I did some light brushing wear it was knotted up to smooth it out some but didn’t make a big deal out of wire brushing. I used on a horse trailer and on some galvanized pipe for poles on my deck 3-4 years ago on trailer still no rust thru paint. Yet another great product from SEM. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product for extremely rusty metal *by D***. on July 17, 2016* Pros: Saves labor/time because you don't remove the rust. The only type of product that is meant to apply over rust, not remove it. Cons: Expensive. Other: I'm a first time user. After researching products to use on a 45-yr-old Ford 3000 tractor that I bought, Rust Mort was perfect for some of the places that were nearly impossible for me to remove the rust. The tractor isn't worth the cost/labor of a full restoration, but I wanted to preserve, if not improve, on the 45-year-old finish. I watched people use Rust Mort on Youtube, so I knew that it's use is for very rusty places.It's not supposed to be used to remove rust. It changes the top of the rust coating to something that you can paint, presumably stopping further rusting underneath the paint. I also used a similar Rustoleum rust converter paint product that was good on some spots, but I think it's better to use Rust Mort and than use a separate paint product rather than combining the two. Although this product is used for direct application on rusty metal, if you can knock off some of the rust with a wire brush or sandpaper, the finish may look smoother after you paint over the Rust Mort. The product worked great for my project.
