what are the instructions to season the pan before use?

Mine came seasoned. Just washed it and then used some cooking spray once I warmed it up the first time.

Why is it 1000 watts?

I never noticed that. It's a stove top waffle iron so maybe that's their way of telling you to keep it on medium heat. It doesn't use any wattage at all. It does make very good waffles.
