The lids are plenty tight enough. I also always disregard reviews about products arriving flawed; stuff happens, and arranging for a replacement is easy. Out of a large number of Pyrex I ordered, one was flawed; no big whoop. My only regret is that the Pyrex don't nest as well as my old plastic containers do, but that's understandable because of the thickness of the glass (which I appreciate, especially after I dropped one while standing up trying to get the lid off and it did not break.
