Work well but ecowitt hub needed.
These seem to be recommended by a lot of Home Assistant users. They came in brown boxes (a good thing), well packaged. Pretty easy to setup..pop in a AA battery, open the ecowitt app, add them. You can set up alarms, calibrate them, all within the app. One thing, they are bright green, so easy to see, dark green would be better. Good range out garden isn't huge but the signal is good. One other thing to note, you do need the ecowitt hub, a small USB box that's permanently on. All in all I like them.

If using indoors, look out for the flashing light
Seems to work as promised. It's been in place for a while now and the battery is still going strong. It was very simple to use and the screen paired without an issue. I'll caveat the above by saying it's had a very easy life so far - it's used indoors so is protected from the elements and the screen is only a metre away so I've not been testing it's signal strength. Something to be aware of if like me you're using it indoors for houseplants - there's a red led on the top that flashes regularly to show all is well. If it is in your bedroom it will likely disturb you. The fix I found was to look in the box and there is a rubber cap designed to go over the arm holding the battery (to further weather proof it). With a little bit of persuasion this can go over the other bit of the body, neatly hiding the angry LED. Also, as others have mentioned, it is bigger than you might think - not a problem out in a field but you wouldn't want to squeeze this into a small pot. If the manufacturer made one more geared for houseplants (swapping to triple-A batteries to make it smaller, and dropping the LED) I'd grab several

Not Accurate.
This device comes with an instruction booklet that explains how to calibrate it. The instructions can be a little confusing, but if you manage to work out what to do, the results are still disappointing. Of course, you can just stick this thing in the ground and take it from there. It connects to the little display monitor with no trouble. You will get a soil % moisture reading - no problem. But that reading is pure fiction. Meaningless. I have recalibrated this device 3 times and still its readings fluctuate wildly and make no sense. If you just want to know if the soil is getting more moist or less moist, it will do this. The % will go up and down. But the values of % it give are totally meaningless and fictional. Just remember, it is not a serious scientific measuring device. You will probably need to spend weeks attempting to tweak the readings and still not get it right. So I am disappointed with this device, but can't complain at this price. You get what you pay for. A cheap inaccurate meter.

Great Soil Moisture Sensor
This is a really nice Soil Moisture Sensor and works perfectly for me. I have two of them and use them with my Ecowitt WS90 Weather Station. Very well made and seem to be accurate. I have the setup with my Ecowitt weather station to notify me (by text & email) when the moisture gets too low, so I remember to water the plants. They also work great outside with my tomato plants and herbs.

An amazing device, but designers misunderstood the function. Had to return since it's too short
Such an amazing idea, but they miscalculated and misunderstood the function: the depth (height of the spike) is too low. It is not useful unless you want to measure a flower's moisture. I am not sure why you would need to test your flowers - they are fine, just put a finger in the soil. The intention / primary consideration for purchasing a moisture meter is to understand how moist is the ROOT. This is WHY ALL, and I mean *ALL* moisture meters are TALL. Guys, have you gone out there and ever purchased one? They are very lengthy for a REASON! Because they must measure moisture at the ROOT. This only goes as far as your middle finger - which , incidentally, was my thought. This device completely fails at what it is supposed to do and is less than half the size of a typical $10 moisture meter.
