Like the mythical tooth fairy, the Paci Fairy comes at night to take childrenโs pacifiers, gives them to new babies who need them, and leaves behind a special toy. The story opens up with Pacitown in trouble, because the Paci Fairy has not shown up for years. The children have grown into adults with the Paciโs still in their mouths. The story follows young "Palina Paciloo" on her quest to find the Paci Fairy in hope of saving Pacitown. Review: Pain-free Paci Removal (well almost completely pain-free) - Ok. This book was so impacting, I felt I had to write a review. We just finished our PaciFairy night two nights ago, and it was a success thanks to this book! I'm a heavy review reader, but seldom write one. I read lots of reviews of this book and other books that were similar. I have an older son who will need braces, and is sensitive about his teeth that protrude in the front. Another book mention that pacis could make your teeth stick out like a bunny. So that book was out. Then I ran across this book, and I thought, why not. My daughter was turning three, and we had already talked to her about getting rid of the paci then. She is a heavy user. Holds one while using one type girl.' The book is pretty, and held her attention. It's pretty wordy for a two year old, but it's written in rhyme, so I think that helped. They also advise you to ask your child if she wants the Paci Fairy to come. We did this. She even asked her out loud to come the night before. She was so excited, and it was a very similar feel for waiting for Santa, which I didn't expect. I braced myself for the rough night ahead. I've been dreading this for awhile now. It has to be awful, right? Nope. She went to bed with her pacis. The Paci Fairy came and left a soft plush dolly with pink hair (FYI, the Paci Fairy gets pink hair). About two hours later, my daughter cried, looking for her Paci. I told her she must have come, and look at her doll! Ok. I'm not going to lie to you. She gave a heartbreaking cry that almost sent me scrambling for one. But then 30 seconds later she was fine. After staying with her maybe 3 min, she pointed me to the door and slept all night! Last night, she went to sleep no problem! The only issue I had was her finding a random Paci during the day. A few tears over that one, but we sent it on to the PaciFairy, too. I blame the mom (' me) for that! Great book! Highly recommend! I can't believe all those other reviews were so right!! Thanks to prayers and this book, we are practically painlessly Paci-free! Update: It's been almost 3 weeks now, and still no Paci. Any Paci she sees, she is giggling about how that is for the babies and not her. Yay!! Review: It really works! - I am only giving this book 4 stars because it actually does work. The plot is mediocre and extremely way too long. The rhyming is just awful. My little 4 year old did like it a lot and we read it every night trying to get rid of the paci. It worked great. I was 100% surprised because I had tried everything to get rid of her paci. The book definitely served its purpose but is just poorly written. I changed a lot of the words and skipped around a little bit to make it sound better. ALL IN ALL it does deserve the 4 stars.

It's okay.
I got this book based off a recommendation from a friend. My son is 2 1/2 and still used a pacifier when I got it. I read a lot of reviews, all very positive. It's a great concept, but I feel its better suited for a preschooler (maybe 3 1/2+). This book really could have benefited from an editor. The story needs tightening. It's too long, and a lot of the rhymes seemed forced. As a parent that is annoying to read, as a 2yo it went over his head. The illustrations were pretty nice pictures but again for a younger child just too complicated and not illustrating the words as much as they could. Ultimately we just ended up taking the pacifier away cold turkey and he only asked for it for one day before moving on.

Highly Recommend!!
We used this book to help our 3 1/2 year old daughter give up her paci. She had only been using her paci at nap and bedtime but I was completely dreading this transition as she really loved her paci. I read the book to her for two weeks. During this time we talked a lot about Paulina and her visit and we set a date for her to visit our house. When the date arrived we did a lot of fun things that day and at bedtime as usual we read the book. After reading the book, my daughter set her pacis out for Paulina (she felt more comfortable having Paulina visit our kitchen rather than her bedroom). I let her take her time as she kind of played with them and enjoyed them one last time. Then when I told her it was time to go upstairs to bed she went right up and got into bed leaving her pacis on the kitchen table for Paulina. When I tucked her in we talked about Paulina's visit and told her how proud mommy and daddy are of her and what a big girl she is. After I left her room I did hear her whine just for a few seconds and that was it! Not one single tear was shed! When we woke up the next morning she was very excited to see that Paulina had visited and left her some very cool presents. Throughout the next couple of days she would randomly ask me about her paci and I would just remind her that Paulina had come and taken them so that she could give them to babies who need them and how proud mommy and daddy are of her for being such a brave, big girl. I am amazed at how well this worked and how painless it was. The Paci Fairy made our transition so successful and easy. Thank you so much for writing this book! I'd also like to comment on Chrisann Zaubi's illustrations. They are absolutely beautiful! My daughter loved them. I would highly recommend this book to any parent looking to get rid of the paci. I've already told all of my family and friends about it! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Not a Recommend for a Two Year old
My daughter in law said the book was not good for a two year old. It was much too long for his age. I was very disappointed. It may be good for older children who use a pacifier. He was only a 2yrs 4months old so like I said it could be good for older children

Pretty, girl-centric, lacking quality control
I haven't read the story. Didnt get that far. It looks very girl-centric. Not so great for boys who are dirt/firetruck/dinosaur obsessed. It's thin, like a booklet, not a book. But that's totally fine. But then I flipped through and saw 3 pages where the art was cut off and 2 pages where the text was chopped, making one of those pages unreadable. Booklet form plus pages not printed right makes this look homemade with no quality control. The art is pretty and the story may be good, but I cant get past the manufacturing quality so I'm returning it. Kind of a shame. I was hopeful.

It worked!
It worked! It really worked!!! I have to admit I was really skeptical. To say my daughter was obsessed with her paci is an understatement. Her preschool teacher came across an article in which your book was mentioned. She knew I was scared to death to take away her paci and what the aftermath would be, and was looking for anything to help. I ordered your book exactly one week before my daughters 3rd birthday-her birthday was the deadline we gave ourselves to take away her paci. I know, cruel taking it away on her birthday! That's how we did it with my first daughter-cold turkey. I just had this gut feeling that "cold turkey" was not going to work with my youngest though. So after overnighting the book, we read it morning, noon and night. I even sent it to school for her teachers to read to her and the rest of the class. I wasn't sure if a week would be enough time but I figured we'd try our best. I went big with the gifts that the paci fairy would be leaving. I wanted her to be impressed. Also, I let her fall asleep with the paci and then went in and took it before she woke up. She asked for it a couple times that day. Nothing major. And every now and again she'll ask for it. We'll just explain why the paci fairy took it. But I have to say it went significantly better than I ever imagined. It's really sweet to when she sees a baby with a paci. She says "mommy look they have my paci". So, thank you! I was so fearful of how this would unfold and it was not nearly as traumatic as I had expected! We are officially paci free!!!!

Way to long of a story
I bought this book for my 2 year old. It has a ton of " filler" pages and she NEVER makes it through the whole book. She also will never catch on to understanding the fairy aspect.

Super long with difficult to grasp concepts
Firstly, I'll say that I love that someone made their dream a reality of writing a book. I ordered this one as it was recommended and I really wanted to love it. However, I don't love it. It's a really long story. It has a simple concept of a dummy fairy but then puts in lots of filler with adults using dummies (my daughter thought this was funny but didn't grasp the concept told in the story), a retired fairy etc. My book loving daughter did sit through it twice but the first time she did get wriggling a few pages in. I honestly don't think at 2 and a bit she would pick up on this story much as it's got too many words and too much going on. My copy was damaged and I will say the returns process was extremely easy which I am grateful for.
