Ancient Cookware, Mexican Clay Lidded Cazuela Pot, Large, Terracotta, 4.5 Quarts

I looked for a earthen ware pot specifically to cook beans low and slow in the oven. I hesitated because the pot is not cheap, but I liked this one better than anything else I was finding. The pot is the perfect size and is attractive. It is ceramic so I treat it with care. I took the time to go through the recommended seasoning process. It did weep a little the first time I used it to cook beans, but it was not much and I had put it on a baking sheet. I have not had any weeping since the first time. The beans always turn out perfect. Consistently so. I love my pot!

When i got my clay pot , my daughters son and me were so impressed . WOW!1 How big and beautiful rustic looking how i liked. I cured it by rubbing garlic in the outside the inside is filled with water put it in the stove for one hour. In the water ad 1 cup vinegar and I teaspoon of baking soda. . After turned of the stove and let it sit in that water all night,. Then your pot is ready.. the next day i cooked some beef stew there was no leaking no breaking and my food came out tasting so good. I recommend this pot BUT you have to cure. Finally i loved my pot another one to my collection. Amazon is awesome Thank!

This is the best thing I have ever bought for my kitchen next to my cast iron skillets. I read all reviews before I purchased and saw one that made me worry a bit but I was going to take that risk because I really wanted to have one. This cazuela arrived beautifully and in time for Christmas as a gift for my husband. I love the idea of supporting his home town and at the same time getting a great product. I will be buying everything I need from this seller and then some! I read that you can season this cookware by rubbing garlic all over-inside and out-and filling it up to the rim and setting it on the lowest temp to let the pot heat up slowly. While doing this I did notice some “sweat” coming from the bottom and it looked as if it was leaking a bit but I just looked it up online and this is a normal occurance for stoneware especially on its first use. This item did not have any chips or cracks anywhere. It’s just the pot getting into shape for use and once I got it all the way hot it did not have any more water coming from the bottom, I am so EXCITED!!! These are great for your kitchen or to give as gifts!

Loved the size, durability as expected, great for its value

It's very lightweight, I thought it would be heavier pottery then what it is. I don't think it's going to last very long. The lid doesn't match the pot either. I would think both pieces would have been fired at the same time and same paint so not sure why they didn't match better? I do love it though! Probably won't buy anymore pieces because it's so light weight not heavy duty like I thought!

I had purchased the medium-sized cazuela first, then ordered the large size. I was planning to return the large size, but once it arrived, I realized the two were really quite different. I've decided to keep both ~ and am so happy I did. I love these cooking pots & use them for all sorts of purposes, ranging from soups to rice dishes. They're beautiful in quality and function, plus they come in perfect condition with careful packaging. Lovely!

Useless for real Mexican cooking. I purchased this cazuela hoping to finally bring my home cooking to the next level. Sadly, I found out on the same day of delivery that it leaks. Thank goodness it was only water, but can you imagine if I had put some oil? I would be talking right now with the fire department probably trying to understand why my pot did not work.
