Inside of the pot is glazed. Bottom of cover and bottom of pot is unglazed.

What is the size for the diameter of the pot?

I have two Cazuela Large, one unlidded, like a chafing pan -It is 13" across lip to lip, bottom surface is 7" across & approx. 4" deep. The lidded Cazuela, with a more cylindrical interior, not tapered like unlidded large, is 11.5" across from lip to lip, the actual useful opening area is 9.5" across, the lid is 10.5" across and the Cazuela is approx. 4.5" deep. Hope this helps.

Can it be used on an open flame

Yes, the cazuela can be used in the oven, microwave, stovetop or EVEN DIRECT FLAMES. But the pieces should be allowed to slowly adjust to heat.
